Using both feet is a bad habit to pick up. Driving with Left on break and right on gas means there is the possibility of both of them at the same time (not to mention you still need to swerve out of the way if this is an option). The brain is not very good at multitasking reactions, and the simple action of pulling up the right and pressing the left is quite complicated, and would take many hours of practicing this action (which is not very good for the car or the tires, and quite a use of gas due to constant acceleration) In an emergency situation where you need to stop, you perform 2 actions, 1. stopping your acceleration by releasing the gas pedal 2. stopping you forward momentum by pressing the break unless you perform these actions with flawless precision, you will hit the break while still pressing the gas, and that split second could mean a few extra feet and the possibility of killing someone. Even a 5mph difference in speed could mean a full recovery or paralyzation for life.

I am an old guy and I do not like the anti old guy remarks that are a false sterotype.

One problem is all the tail gaters who we hope have better reflexes. We need some kind of defense agains tthem, but wearing out our brakes aint it. What I do when I have a serious tail gater is to gradually slow down until they go past me, then I resume what I consider to be a safe driving speed. If we have an acceident, then probably we driving solwer, and it not as bad as it would have been had we been doing the speed where there tailgating started.

I would like to have a radar on the back of the car that makes a photo of anyone license plate when they are too close for the current speed, sends the photo into the DMV to have them issued a ticket for unsafe driving.

Not only is it a safety problem (people behind you never know when you're going to stop because your brake lights are on all the time) but doing this reduces gas mileage and wears out brake pads or shoes prematurely. Most people 90 years old don't drive any more, you don't have to be old to be a bad driver.

A lot of people drive like that and they are not all over 90 believe it or not. It is an improper way to drive and wears the brakes out too fast.

I can't drive 55 at the road race track and many times I left foot brake into the turns that allows me a quick blip of the throttle right foot to snap the gearshift back downshift and sometime I use toe on the brake and heel on the gas too! What ever you have to do to lower your lap times.

It's a very bad habit to have. In case of a collision, you are going to put pressure on the gas pedal, making the situation worse. Not only that, but it puts unnecessary wear on your brakes and uses excessive gas. Bad habit. Bad. Bad.

You're not supposed to drive like that, because if you find yourself in a fast-paced potential accident situation on the road you could get nervous and your reaction is to push down with both feet, which will mess up your transmission and hinder you from maneuvering your way out of having the accident.
