It took him 6 days. No one ever counts my breaks as work--why should we count His?
Of course, along comes some pesky scientists who proceed to prove that life didn't come into being the way the book of Genesis describes. So I guess we can throw those 6 days away now, as well.

Personally what is Seven Days? What may be a day to us may be a Million years to the Lord? But should it have only been ONE day do you think that you could have created the Heavens (Universe) and the Earth in One day?????? Or making a Human Life in ones own Image ???? God rested on the 7th Day, apparently He was Tired and needed rest a Sabbath....
What is Wisdom to Man is Stupidity to God....That is actual Scripture....Yes God is ALMIGHTY until I see a Man try to do what HE did I wouldn't question whether or not he is So Almighty and taking Six Days to Create EVERYTHING that we know and see.....By the way, everything around us, is Created by God. The Food you eat, created by God. God has given Man a Little wisdom to know how to create some little things to survive, or to get through... For starter there is a Book called the Bible and it helps people better understand what God did do during the first Six Days.......You may enjoy reading it as it's the ONLY book on earth that will NOT carry void....

You misread it. God created the world in six days, and rested on the seventh, which is the reason most people think they ought to get a day off every week.
However, there is no reason to suppose that a day for God is the same as a day on earth. Since God exists outside of time, anyhow, it really doesn't matter. He could have done it all in a blink of an eye, and, for the universe, it would still have been billions of years. I truly believe, as Jesus said, that God made the Sabbath for men, because, we do, indeed, need a day off every week.
God bless!

Personaly, I agree with Lisa T on her explaination, but want to add a little. The Bible is the ONLY book written that has lasted for thousands of years. The same Y H V H(God) that made the heavens and earth and everything in it in (6) days rested on the seventh. He commanded us to do the same thing. That's why most places let you off on at least one day a week. Most pastors that preach on Sunday take Monday off even. Jews celebrate Sabbath on what we call Saturday, while "Christian" Countries celebrate Sabbath on Sunday" If you want to continue to work seven days a week, it's completely up to you!!!!!

Actually scripture says that God created the earth in 6 days and then rested on the seventh. He did this to create the sabath. The sabath is any day taken to rest and glorify God. Thus the 7 days.

Ecclesiastes 3:11[kjv]He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
JESUS loves you.Have u recieved JESUS for the forgiveness of your sins?
John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with the blood JESUS shed on the cross.
With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

Ironically, there were heretics in the early church who came to the conclusion that God did create in only one day. From one of Ken Ham's articles:
"In Martin Luther’s day, some of the church fathers were saying that God created everything in only one day, or in an instant. Martin Luther wrote:
‘When Moses writes that God created Heaven and Earth and whatever is in them in six days, then let this period continue to have been six days, and do not venture to devise any comment according to which six days were one day. But, if you cannot understand how this could have been done in six days, then grant the Holy Spirit the honor of being more learned than you are. For you are to deal with Scripture in such a way that you bear in mind that God Himself says what is written. But since God is speaking, it is not fitting for you wantonly to turn His Word in the direction you wish to go.’18" ("Did God Really Take Six Days?" Creation Magazine)
So whether you believe one day, one instant, or millions of years, the asnwer is the same: Let God speak, don't put words in His mouth.
People who insist on six days are *not limiting God*; rather they are properly limiting themselves to what God said.
Then He [Jesus] said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." Mark 2:27
God wrote with His own finger, the answer to your question, "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant nor your maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." Exodus 20:8-11
In all His grace He did it to establish the week for us, so that we would have a day of rest from all the work that we do the other 6 days.

I believe that God is a rational God. What goes up must come down, one plus one equals two, light is the opposite of darkness, it takes six days to create the heavens and the earth.

To show all doubters that he is God Almighty by telling us in the bible that he took 6 days to create everything emphasized by the fact that the earth rotates once a day.

Lol did you not read how He checked everything to see if each was GOOD or not? Think about your own job....doing the work and checking it over detail by detail takes almost as much time as the original doing
But actually, again, right from the start God was teaching a lesson :)
Peace :)

Me thinks that GOD rather enjoyed the process and did so with LOVE.
Also one day to GOD is not directly proportional to one Earth day.
It has not bean determined exactly how long a "GOD Day" is.
Small correction. It was "six days". On the seventh "day" HE rested.
JESUS Bless you,
dave
