...installed their copy of XP on MY machine, just to check the cd was fine. It installed perfectly and passed validation.

Now, I've got the other one working, and I installed their cd on their machine successfully.

However, it does not pass validation, and so they will not be happy in the morning when I return their machine.

What can I do? I'm aware that MS takes hard disk info as well as some other info when validating, but the hard disk has remained the same throughout the testing.

Where do I go next with this?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

BTW, MY machine is running MY copy of windows and no s/w pirarcy has taken place.

You will need to do the phone in option, and explain what happened, so see if they will validate it again.

do u mean activation ?

if u activated an oem copy of Windows on another computer u cant use it nemore u will have 2 buy a new copy of Windows or call XP and tell them u installed it onto another computer, which is against the EULA.
