I know alcohol and tylenol are a no-no together. However, are other meds safer to take with alcohol? (ie. Ibuprofen) I have heard that since alcohol and tylenol both are metabolized in the liver, it is toxic. While some other drugs are metabolized in the kidneys which make them safer.

If you are on any form of medication, it is best not to mix it with alcohol, after all, everything is unique in the individuals chemical makeup, therefor there is never going to be a standard to which one can measure drugs and alcohol against as it is all personal. JJ

Any type of medication is going to have a toxic effect on the liver. However by ingesting both alcohol and tylenol your liver gets a double toxicity. One time probably won't harm you, but why risk it? Other pain type of medications (NSAIDS) are still going to be partially metabolized in the liver, so the potential is still there. Also with Ibuprofen you have an increase of gastrointestinal disturbances that also are known in Alcohol consumption.

Moral of the story...take alcohol at your own risk.
