My car CD player frequently displays "error" when I put a new CD in. Why? What can I do?

This CD play came with the car, which is a 2000 Nissan Maxima. If the CD starts, it usually plays fine until I turn the car off. If I try the same CD again after "error", sometimes I can get it to work.

run a cleaning disc in it or take canned air and blow it out this should fix the problem if not send it in to get it fixed or replace it

the lens is dirty..needs cleaning
