In addition to the washing and fungal remedies as described above, make sure your Dad doesn't wear the same shoes every day. Shoes need to air out.a couple of days. His probably need to be thrown out!

Also, make sure he wears shoes that breathe well. Have him wear cotton socks, and when he is home, he should wear open sandals. Try "Odor Eaters" insoles - and, did you know you can use aerosol underarm antiperspirant on your feet? Works great.

On the down side, overly smelly feet can be a sign of diabetes. He should probably visit his doctor, just to be safe.

No matter what you do to the feet themselves it won't help if he doesn't replace his shoes and purchase some odor eater inserts to control future smell. They even make odor eater socks and I bought them for my boys for years. They help. So does a regular foot soak in warm water and baking soda, with attention to sloughing off old dead skin. Fresh new skin that is healthy doesn't "stink". You simply canNOT effectively remove nasty odor from shoes, especially leather ones. He will have to be willing to work at stopping stink before it starts or no product will help much at all. Maybe if you tell him the truth, which is that when he is dressed and out in public people can still smell the nasty odor from his feet he will get motivated to help himself. Prevention is key.

Dry them really good specially between the toes. Moisture can harbor bacteria which is what makes the stink.
Or he may have a fungus which is going to require an anti fungal. The local pharmacist may recommend something. Or he may have to go to the doctor for a prescription anti fungal.
good luck
