Thou shalt not put any other Gods before me or something to that effect.
Basically in some odd extradimensional plane all the Gods are working hard to convert folks. Collecting souls like Pokemon cards.

Hi Z H. God is very clear about the subject of multiple Gods in His Holy Word the Bible. There is only one God and no others. Those who worship many Gods or who believe there is one major God and many minor Gods are following a false Gospel. These people are not comparing the Bible in it's entirety. God tells us very clearly that He is the only God and there are no others in Mark 12:32:

"And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he."

God answers this question again in 1 Corinthians 8:6:

"But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him."

God tells us again in 1 Timothy 2:5, there is only one God:

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"

There are many people who say there are many Gods, but they are following false gospels. We know that when we compare scripture with scripture and look at the whole Bible, we can see without a doubt that there is only One God and that Jesus Christ was God Almighty Himself in the flesh.

No. A literal interpretation of the Bible proves the existence of one very bi-polar God with at least three distinct personalities. The All knowing Father who demands obedience. The rebellious Son who just wants to spread the love. And the Holy Ghost who just watches and does nothing good or vengeful.

An Hasidic rabbi prays to God for help. After some time God answers
"What seems to be the problem?"
"My son moved to Israel and just wrote me. He wants to convert to Christianity!" The rabbi said
"You know something? I've had the same problem" God answered.

God is just a title--not a name. There are many gods and many lords. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 tells us this.

In Paul's time, idol makers and temple builders worked overtime even to the point of building a temple to an "unknown" god just to cover all bases.

We make gods out of whatever we spend the most time on. Sports,TV, money, work are all gods to some.

We need to recognize there is one true, Most High God. His name is found in Ps. 83:18. It is Jehovah.

Gods, idols are psychological metaphors - believing that doing one thing will get you something else. Even to the extent of believing "if I'm good - follow someone's rules - I'll get to heaven. It is the same as Jesus forcing the 'money-changers or merchants' out of the temple. It is about purification or rebirth of the true Self. Our learned ego believes that all sorts of innane compromises and 'special relationships' are required to "get" what we want from the world.

In view of the historical context, other "gods" is just a figure of speech used back then -- it is another way of referring to other "religions".

The Bible is simply acknowledging the fact that their are multiple religions; it is not conceding the fact that these other religions are necessarily valid.

duh. Many "gods" exist, it just depends what you call a god. There are many false gods, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. For example the sun god is a false god, but that doesn't mean the sun doesn't exist.
