Sure, I can get along with people who think differently than I believe. And I don't hate them at all. However, this is a forum where people can discuss their point of view. Like a debate team. I think it is perfectly okay and good to express your point of view. I don't think I will necessarily ever convert anyone. But I do hope to make them think at least a little about this point of view. As to fighting, or infighting - none of that is good or healthy, and I don't enjoy that at all. In fact, I believe that all atheists will someday go to heaven. And I believe everyone was made by God, so they are my brother or my sister. I don't hate my brothers or sisters. Although, sometimes I get exasperated with what they think. And I know they get that way with me.

I welcome the "debates" as opportunities to share my views. We are still in a country that allows dissemination of a religious viewpoint, so I seize the time.
I like reading these opposing views because they help me understand how and why people think the way they do. Their questions and answers help me analyze my own arguments better so I can address real concerns. They help me jettison canned answers that have not helped people.
When someone says that the Christians never give a rational argument for God, or that science and religion don't mix, then I have an opportunity to set the record straight.
I want to defend my beliefs against those who would lump us with people who don't represent us. To point to a priest who molests children as an example of Christianity oversimplifies a complex issue. Neither does it help for us to point to Stalin as the best example of atheism. Isolated bad apples do not address real concerns.

The answer is simple as sugar sweetie, we fight because we both strongly believe that we are right. Now I agree with the notice that we both should share our beliefs, when asked and not demand that someone should join either side. But fighting will probably continue on, despite the fact that only time will tell who really is right.

Well on the one side you have some christians who want others to be as miserable them, sort of a misery loves company type thing. On the other hand you have some Atheists who were former believers and feel let down by a book (the bible) which proved to be a corrupted document and now they are angry and want to stick it to the Christians for tricking them.

I'm certainly not looking to convert anybody. I find debating religion to be very fun and, often we all can learn things from eachother.

I'm not really trying to "convert" people to atheism, as in reality, I'm only here for the entertainment value.

Because one feels it's their sacred duty and the other wants to be left alone. Both of them are firm in their convictions and won't stop. Sad, isn't it?

Peace ? we can't have that now can we ? That would be to much to ask for. They'll never stop because they each think they have the right answer.
