It's just too much to read questions and responses from ignorant people on these boards.
Are you a Good Samaritan? Umm...Probably not, since I'm not a Samaritan at all. They are an Arab / Semitic population in the Middle East.
Which one of the Churches in Revelation do you think you are? Umm.....None of them, since I'm not a resident of Asia Minor under Roman rule, the entire region is Muslim now and time travel isn't possible.
The historical and geographical ignorance of the Church is truly something to behold.
Does Jesus know that his 'Bride' isn't very bright?

Maybe that's why he doesn't come back.
He wouldn't respect himself in the morning.

Tzadiq, it's funny how it was taken literally, until it didn't turn out the way it was predicted, then it became a spiritual metaphor, except for when it isn't.
And none of you can agree on when that is.

Hansel, so that excuses the Church for slaughtering Samaritans since the Crusades?
Interesting interpretation.
That's the fun thing about interpretation. You can make it say whatever you want.

Well, "Father", are you a "Father"? If not, why be critical of we christians. If we say "so and so is a good samaritan", surely we know that we are not saying the person is from Samaria. We are equating them with the good samaritan in the parable in the bible. The same holds true with which "church" we may think we belong to in the book of revelation. We are looking at the heart content of the people or the church described in the passage. And we are saying, "I want to be aligned with this type of group". Not that we are the group that lived in Asia Minor under Roman Rule. We are saying that when people look at us, our life and our behavior, we hope they say to themselves, "He or she reminds me of the people described as the church of Philadelphia. He or she reminds me of the Good Samaritan. He or she reminds me of the type of Christian who Christ might find a worthy bride - one who is faithful, humble and keeps her word."
But surely, I suspect you know this, or else you wouldn't refer to yourself as Father Guido, right?

Actually we are prophetic Laodicea. Not a real compliment to us is it? But it sure fits. Also Jesus asked in the parable which one was his neighbor.
Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
37The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."
So quick trying to be technical. Of course we are not literally Samaritans. What Jesus told us to do is to be loving to our neighbors.
What? Now you bring up slaughtering? We weren't talking about that at all. You were acting like the Bible told us to be Samaritans when it says nothing of the sort. He told us to love our neighbor and used a parable of someone they would not have expected to act mercifully. Is it really that cryptic? And I am in no way excusing any actions of the Catholic Church. As an organization they have committed horrible crimes and forever slandered the name of Jesus. If the point of this "question" was to confuse and frustrate.... congratulations.

Definitions of "good Samaritan:
http://www.onelook.com/?w=%22good%20samaritan%22&ls=a : "a person who voluntarily offers help or sympathy in times of trouble"
http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/dictionary/DictionaryResults.aspx?refid=1861691045 : "helpful person: a helper of those who are in trouble"
http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/samaritan+ : "2 [from the parable of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-37] : a person who is generous in helping those in distress "
http://www.wordsmyth.net/live/home.php?script=search&matchent=good+Samaritan&matchtype=exact : "a person who compassionately and unselfishly helps others in distress."
http://www.bartleby.com/61/41/G0194100.html : "A compassionate person who unselfishly helps others."
There's another 10 or so online dictionaries that make the same "mistake" on the first link above, so you better go e-mail them all and tell them how "not very bright" they are for not realizing what Samaritans are.
As for the "which one of the Churches...", you did learn what a metaphor is in school, didn't you?

Thou paunchy sheep-biting baggage!
Perhaps you take the scripture to literally my friend and do not understand that there are principles involved.
No of coarse not. What was I thinking. You have no principles. Again this is not up to your usual diatribe. Did you do a little too much partying last night?
