i believe in God and think that if you desire to practice magick it has to come from a very personal and loving relationship with God. i just dont know how to go about learning the art of magick. where do i start? is it all in books? how do i know what books i can trust?

i think only the person who practices it can decide to use it for good or evil. i also believe that the bible was written by man and man put whatever they wanted into it and that is a reason it says magick is evil. it also says that women should serve men. and we all know thats not true. lol so please dont leave me answers if is going to be bible talk. these are my beliefs and i dont ask that u agree with them but please respect them.

Well, I could do this the easy way and send you to about a million links, but if you wanted that you would have probably just googled "magick", right? So here it goes, there are four main steps in doing magic:

1. Allow yourself to truly see what it is in your life that you're wanting to change and accept it without rejection.

2. Now, decide how you would like to change that part of your life

3. Envision this new hoped for life as actually being real in this present moment. Allow yourself to see, hear, feel, taste and smell the vision in your mind so that it is VERY real to you. Make it so real that the energy of it creates a sort of "memory" as if it has already occurred. This sends the message to the Universe that you have already created this new life in the energy world and the energy will naturally attract the actual physical reality.

4. Accept that what you have created is real and as the days go by, wait with expectation and thankfulness for your magic to manifest, knowing without a doubt that it will. That is the secret to effective magic: confidence in your ability to create your own reality, as is your birthright.

By the way, it is perfectly fine to spell it as "magick". People who waste their time criticizing the way you spell it are obviously trying to cover up the fact that they actually know nothing significant about the subject. As far as wanting to practice magic in the way that suits you, many Wiccans feel that practicing magic means you have to be Wiccan and follow Wiccan moral conduct, which is absolutely untrue. I say that you aught to follow your inner compass and let other people follow the metaphysically accepted "crowd" if that's what they want to do. I think you're on the right track.

Also, what I just outlined for you are the principles behind all truly effective magic and just about any ritual, spell, etc. that you may find in books or on the web will work as long as you use the basic principles of manifestation while you're doing them. Good luck to you!

Actually the K in magick was added by Crowley to distinguish his brand of magick from stage magic but also to fit his Gemetria. Really it doesn't matter how you spell it.

The way you learn magic is study, study, study and practice, practice, practice. Books are a good start, but there is a lot of junk out there. I would stay away from books that offer a quick fix, that claim to be "THE complete guide to such-and-such", that include slams against any person or group, and that claim to include spells that you find morally repugnant for any reason.

Since you are involved with God/Yahweh, I think Kabbalistic mysticism would suit you. For you I would recommend Donald Michael Kraig's "Modern Magick". It's a very good beginner's book and he has all sorts of references and recommended reading that you can check out. Check out all of his recommendations. Read as much as you can. And practice!

If you're going to insist on believing whatever you want to believe simply on the basis that it suits you to believe it, then I'm not about to tell you what I know about Magick just so that you can do whatever you want. There are certain guidelines that you should follow concerning all Magicks, whether you agree with them or not. Your present attitude doesn't fit into this. You sound just like Morgan Le Fay.

I'd say start by communing/meditating. When you feel your spirit charged, that's magick. The method from there is to know how to gain that feeling at will and direct it to help you with whatever you need for self-actualization.

Spells, items, candles, etc are all just tools to help you achieve that focus and direct it at healing or growing whatever you need inside you. So find whatever method works for you.

A lot depends on what you want to do. Ceremonial magick, voudon/rootworking, Wiccan spellcraft, tradtional witchcraft, and Christian mysticism are all very, VERY different forms of magick with their own cosmologies, methodologies, and learning curves.

Don't use the k unless you are speaking of Crowley.

The *best* author on Christian magic, EVER, was Thomas Vaughan.

If you wanted to be a magic, you would disobey THE GOD first.

Are you ready?! I don't think so.
