She should do her time and quit whinning about it.Some people are actually innocent who are put in jail for years on end just because they don't have the resourses she does. A DUI is a serious thing, just ask someone who has lost a special person because of the selfish act of another. Maybe this will wake her up to what is real, she seems to be living in a total fantasy world......

Everyone is slamming this girl, while totally ignoring what is really happening here.I could care less about Paris Hilton's dramas in life, but something legally is wrong here.
This would not be the first judge to hand down a sentence that could of been handled differently if she was the "average Joe."
It is clear this judge also was looking for some form of "celebrity Status."
Give the Sheriff a Little credit. He has dealt with many people with the same charges as hers in his jail.
He had enough balls to stand up ,and tell the public, had she been anyone else, after 5 days would be the appropriate time sentence due to over crowding.

I agree with Patty...she got a bum deal because of WHO she is....people are saying that the rich and famous are treated differently, and in this case it's true, but this judge gave her a sentence that is so ridiculous JUST to make an example out of her....Sheriff Baca should have known better than to do what he did, if he had only released her without the "house arrest" part, it would have been different and the judge couldn't have done a thing about it....and as far as Paris crying out in court for her Mom, it was only because she wanted to give her Mom a hug before going off to jail, and was denied it....she got screwed by getting caught in the middle of a bureaucratic "dick" war between the sheriff and the judge...she'd have been out by now, due to overcrowding and time served if no one had interfered....

There seems to be a legitimate question about the severity of the original sentence. As for her release and re-incarceration, I do feel bad for her. It's not her fault that the sheriff and the judge are apparently engaging in a testosterone contest with Paris caught in the middle.

she and her lawyers should be charged with contempt over thinking she could participate in a hearing by PHONE. the sheriff should be charged with contempt. her mom should as well for the outburst she caused months ago when paris was originally sentenced. these people, just like regular people we all know in even our own small towns think they are above the law -- they are not and should be judged accordingly.

i think she should be in jail i think its unfair that she got to come out in the first place she may be a celebrity but she could have killed someone when she was drink driving. she should have to suffer the consequences of her actions just like anybody else
