No.

Madness? No.

However, PROPER and SUPERVISED and MAINTAINED treatment will lead to better mental and physical health.

It is a choice to be treated for any illness or disease. But if the consequences of not being treated lead to the danger of others or themself, for any reason, there are consequences the ill person will be faced with.

I went for 20 years being untreated for depression. I had consequences to face. Finally I had the blessing of a doctor and counsellor who were in touch over my depression, and I am healthier all round for it.

If you are worried about someone you know, support decisions that will lead them to better health. I have this advice for you if it is you...Medication won't work properly without counselling and counselling will not work properly with medication. Keep your chin up whether for you or for a friend.

I don't know if it would be called madness but a lot of bad things can happen. It can result in death either by suicide or the depress person may kill others. Feeling down every now and then is natural. However, feeling often and noticing that its getting worts and worst and having crazy thoughs like hurting yourself or others or where it gets to the point where it interferes with life in general is really bad. Not to be taken slightly.

"Madness" is a term so general that it has no real meaning, and fear of madness can only distract you from more immediate concerns. Occasional depression is a normal part of the human condition, and the mind is often just as self-healing as is the body: depression often dissipates as one works through the issues that are gnawing at him/her. When depression lingers and deepens, though, it is wise to seek professional help.

Depression is different from madness because depressed people often keep their critical thinking, awareness and sanity.
It depends on the kind of depression and person's ability to manage and deal with disease.
I think that you are responsible for your life and your health and you should take care.
