Cats are nocturnal by nature...changing their schedule may be difficult, if not impossible.

Try playing with them (active play) during the day. Get them up and moving and exercising when YOU want them to be awake. Laser pointers are great for this.

Hopefully, that will help them be calmer, if not altogether sleepy, at night.

Is your older cat neutered? If no longer then the kitten is achieving sexual adulthood and the older cat is making an attempt to mate. How long have you ever had the kitten? consistent with possibility the older cat is basically attempting to ascertain dominance and enable the kitten understand he became there first. as quickly because it incredibly is finished he will cool down and pass away the kitten on my own. Are you exhibiting the kitten distinctive interest whilst no longer exhibiting the older cat as lots? if so then you definately've a jealous sibling on your palms and you could desire to grant some interest to the older animal. Are you confident the kitten which continues to be in a playfull point isn't innitiating the aggressive play and then biting off better than she would manage to chew? if it is the case then the older cat isn't interior the temper to handle a playful toddler and is putting her in her place.

Cats are nocturnal, it's natural for them to sleep all day!

In time your cats might fit in with your rhythms and become more diurnal, many just take short naps throughout the day and night. I'm afraid your new cat has just brought natural cat behaviour back to your old cat, you can't force them to fit in with your rhythms!

I have the same thing, but learn to close your door at night, or live with it, even.
