the point is...folks think the grass is always greener. I lean towards the glass being half empty. This causes me to be critical, instead of positive. I'm trying to learn to be encouraging instead of negative. I want to see what has helped others.

I usually tend to see the glass as half empty. The advantage I get out of this is that I don't usually expect to get anything out of life but when I do I am able to appreciate it more.

The grass may be greener on the other side...but the water bill is higher too :) Just something i picked up somewhere.

I would have to say that it depends on the day. I wish I was always a 'glass is half full" person, but I am not.
I think that a life lived that way would be less stressful and more positive.
I strive to have that kind of mindset, but I am also very prone to worrying.

Addition: Wow the answer above me is great...I would LOVE to view things in such a manner!!

I view the glass as all the way full and overflowing.
Advantages: I see life as too good to let anything get me down for long.
Yes, I used to be very depressed. There were times when I would come home from work and just stare at the wall for hours on end.
Yes, I was able to change my focus by looking at all the ways I am blessed (and not just spiritually). I learned to be thankful for all I have rather than bitter or angry about all that I didn't have.

I used to be a 'glass half empty' person. Now I see it as half full.
this is since I've come to know the Lord. It's an advantage. I am able to see both sides, but because it's half full to me, I am often able to assist others to see the advantage of the situation before it gets critical.

blessings :)

A glass is a vessel.
The human form is a vessel.
The contents of these vessels are always in a state of flux.

If either of these vessels are being drained, then an outside source is needed to replenish the substance that is being contained within them.

The glass has no consciousness and needs a caretaker or
evaporation will take place.
The human form has consciousness yet it also needs a caretaker to not allow evaporation to take place.

It is the duty of each vessel to realize when its contents are diminishing, and seek replenishing.

Glass vessels will contain a certain volume. This can be measured.
The vessel called the human form has contents that are immeasurable.

The Creator of both types of vessel is necessary to assure
that each vessel fulfills its purpose.
Without the Creators assistance each vessel could dry up
thus becoming what we call empty.

We should always strive to assure that these vessels are full!
Hopefully these vessels will one day overflow watering many
vessels around and near them!

Very definitely half full. In other words, it's all about wether you're an optimist or a pessimist. I was once the latter, and it often filled me with anxieties and worries that were completely inappropriate. Changing viewpoints and examining yourself and thoughts from an outsiders point of view, gives a greater clarity in everything.

Living with a mind of positivitey is the greatest happiness anyone can really feel.

I am an eternal optimist. I can see how some could say that that would set me up for a lot of disappointment, but being an optimist, I don't see it that way.

I currently live in Enterprise, AL where a tornado ripped through our high school and devastated our town. As terrible as it was, it was a great experience for all of those in our town. It was a first time for many of them to experience reaching out to help a complete stranger. It was a first time for many to realize that a complete stranger cares. Our police department became first responders. Our Red Cross learned how to function more efficiently for the next crisis. I was afforded the opportunity to give hope to hundreds of people, and it was no burden to me.

I could go into positive thinking, quantum physics, and creating your own reality, but I'm going to end like this:

Optimism as a way of life has the unique ability to turn burden in to pleasure -- Lemons into Lemonade!!

Thank God for the glass !!!

Focus on this and accomplish it:

Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save Your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs and start Your journey back home, to Heaven.

<<<<<<< UnConditional Love is the only answer >>>>>>>

Love and Believe in Our Creator;
Love and Believe in Yourself.

"religion is Spiritual fraud";
"religion is the Worst invention of humanity";
"religion is the greatest lie and deception of all time";
"Universal Truth has eliminated religion from Spirituality",
quotes of Jesus Christ, Buddha and any one else with Spiritual intelligence.

"When a person is freed of religion, they have a better chance to live a normal and wholesome life." S. Freud

Here are some of my quotes:

Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!
Freedom of religion is Freedom from religion.

atheists = all the people in religion = all the ignorant fundamentalists = all the cults/superstitions = paganism = wicca = taoism = xians = scientology = homosexuals/lesbians = skinheads = politicians = george w bush = lawyers.

You ask which philosophy works best, pessimism (half empty) or optimism (half full).

Seeing the glass as half empty means you are focusing on what you don't have.

Seeing the glass as half full means you are grateful for what you do have.

I have been both in my lifetime, and I must say that I am now a pessimistic optimist. In other words, I am grateful for what I have, and try to improve my situation in terms of what I don't.

If your glass is only half full, then try to get another half full glass, and voila! One full glass worth, lol!
