I'm trying to install windows XP on my computer, but it won't boot from the CD. The CD is a bootable CD and my BIOS settings r setup to boot from CD-Rom first. I've done this befroe on this PC, why is it not allowing me to do it now? The CD is a licensed copy of Windows, and the CD isn't damaged. I know this because I have 2 different CDs and neither of them will work (not a burned copy of a 2nd CD, 2 completly different copies). I tried resetting the BIOS to orginal settings and resetting the boot order to make CD-Rom first. I'm completly baffled by this. Thanks for the Help.

Restart your computer into BIOS setup. (use F1 or DEL) Go to the Boot Order section, and allow your CD to boot BEFORE your hard drive.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Check your BIOS settings once again - just in case :-)

There is a possibility that the bootable cd is damaged. If you have a live cd of knoppix or any other os (like Puppy linux, for example), try to boot from that. Then you will know whether it's the BIOS setting that's causing a problem, or whether the Windows cd is damaged.

Reset you bios once to default setting, make sure the CD and cd-rom is working fine. Only this CD doesnt let you boot, or are there issues with others too ?

hope it helps

try after cleaning up your CD ROM lens may be it is not working, so it can't take the bootable cd.

If it's legal, call Microsoft.

If it's not legal, call the FBI. They will help.
