Ok. So it's been less than two months i've gotten snakebites. Everything was pretty normal until a white bump appeared on the outside entrance of on of my lip piercings. It doesn't hurt or anything, it's just....there and it's...WHITE. and my skin is tan. it's not big...just a small bump and i don't think i want it to get any bigger. how do i get rid of it?should i pick it off?
-i do a sea salt rinse when i wake up and before I got to bed
(i don't do sea salt soaks though)
-i try not to touch them alot, but my body seems to produce a lot of crusties so a lot of times during the day i pick them off
-i've bumped them probably two times
-i've never had a keloid or anyhting, my body seems to heal normally with cuts and etc.

could my rings be too small?

It could be a polyps. Don't try to pop it, they normally disappear completely once the piercing has fully healed, although the discolouring may take a lot longer to disperse. Some times around the polyps the area may bleed a little or there can be a clear discharge. Again alter the cleaning procedure stopping the Teatree Oil and use the surgical spirit or Alcohol until it dries out. Normally the polyps will eventually disappear if the piercing is removed permanently. The 'polyps' is usually caused by the body's reaction to continual movement of the piercing and the sensitivity of the skin.

Swelling usually occurs in mouth piercings, the lip and the tongue will often swell up for about a fortnight. It is essential that overlength studs or bars should be used initially, and then changed for shorter ones after the piercings have settled down. With the swelling a cold compress normally gives some relief, and an anti-inflammatory, such as aspirin, often helps.

Well, your first mistake is rinsing your piercings only twice a day-- I'm almost positive that isn't what your piercer recommended you do.

I carry a small bottle of non-alcoholic surgical mouthwash around with me and rinse my lip ring after every meal, and after every time I drink something besides water-- and ESPECIALLY, any time I'm dumb enough to actually touch the piercing with my fingers.

Your piercing may get a bit crusty while healing, but I'm sure the reason yours is getting a lot of crusties is actually BECAUSE you're picking at it so much. This can delay healing, introduce more bacteria to the piercing, and in bad cases, even cause some scarring.

Don't touch them!! If you notice your piercing looking not so great, rinse the piercing and use a swab with some antiseptic to clean off the crusties. (I used to use cotton swabs dipped in tea tree oil for this.) Rinse your piercing a lot more often, and try some salt water soaks.

It could be infected. I know that if there's a bumb in the piercing its probaly an infection that is starting to grow. Or its just swelling from you biting on it. Antibiotics kill infections I believe. And salt helps cure infection. Keep doing salt soaks and don't remove the piercing for the infection could get trapped.

you have to clean more often then just twice. you should be cleaning them after you eat or drink anytype of product. anything that goes in your mouth you should clean it. also every now and then take your rings out and sea salt the holes. i pierced mine very poorly 3 years ago lol. i never had a problem. oh yea....dont pick them off.

DO NOT pick it off. stop touching it so much and keep rinsing it with sea salt. it should go away if you leave it alone. =]]
