Does having a credit report run on you bring your credit score down?

Yes, for every enquiry will deduct 5 points. However, these points are given back to you after 6months (not 24).

I dealth with this when I applied for a car loan. They ran my credit through 8 different loan companies. Needless to say I was pissed. I believe car dealers may do this on purpose as you will not be able to go to a different dealer.

Nonetheless, I was given back the points after 6 months.

Yes 5-7 points, and there is part of your score that tracks how many times you have requested credit, this also looks bad and is for a 24 month period. When people keep asking and asking it usually shows desperation
