Good and tough question. I think that all religions are good as long as they preach respect for others and peace... and if you see closely, the big religions all preach that, no matter what the name they give to God (have you seen how all the names of God between religions are very similar also?)
I couldn't say that one is better than the other... I've never heard that the sacred books were faxed directly by God, so, yes, I would say that they are in a great part an invention of man. But to the core, they are all the same.

There are two basic sorts of religions, the first is the Jewish / Christian ones, the second is pretty well everything else. The reason is the first recognizes God as the Supreme Creator and that we are accountable to him for our actions, the second group doesn't recognize this fact.
As to which is best, I personally believe a Christian based one is best because it deals with the sin in an individuals life and gives the biggest rewards for following the simplest of concepts.
I guess you could say that all the religions we are aware of are, to a degree, man made, but that is because we are humans. If whales, for example, had a religion, it would be quite different from a human religion because their environment is different, their culture is different, and their way of communicating is different. Thus it follows that even if they worshiped God, it would be in quite a different way from us. This doesn't mean their worship would be less acceptable to God, it would be just as acceptable.
For a religion to have any relevance, it must attract people otherwise it will die out, so it follows that the religion must have an input from its followers.

It is the one that follows God's requirements as found in the Bible. The beliefs should only be in agreement with Bible principles and commands. Beliefs dreamed up by men are not allowed.
The method I advise is using the index or concordence in the back of your Bible. Take a belief and go to the index to look up key words about the belief to find the Bible's viewpoint.
EX.: The dead are tortured/in bliss. Look up dead. One of the scriptures you find is Eccles. 9:5-7, 10. The dead have no thoughts or feelings. Therefore, any religions claiming the dead are suffering or playing harps must be false. Mark them off and move on.
Now it is not for me or anyone to tell you what to believe. That is the reason we were given free will. What you do with it is your own responsibility.

If you believe in God, then, you must submit to His Will and Worship him Only. That's what Precisely what Islam is about.
Although people who follow Islam are called muslims, one should not gauge Islam by the standards of some muslims. Humans are Not perfect, we have to accept that first. Just like there are good and bad people among Christians,Buddhists, Hindus, Jews and Atheists, there are good and bad people among Muslims too.
People who bash Islam mainly point their fingers at the extremists. Islam has nothing tod with these people. They are basically Lost and taught the Wrong Thing.
Islam is the Most Logical Religion in the World. People who seriously study Islam, Read the Quran and the life of the prophet Muhammad have absolutely Zero Negative things to say about Islam.
Instead of hearsays, One should try Reading themselves if they want to find the Truth.

Truth before God is one. Somany lies cannot form into one truth. Truth is one. This is hidden in the very core of every scriptures and religion. That 'God is one and only', He is the creator of heavens and earth. He alone is worthy worship, everything besides Him are fake gods-man made. So religion before God is Islam which means submitting to His will and worshipping Him alone without any partners.

The singular problem with religions are they are all created by man to honor God. Each religion has their own doctrine in how one should approach God. In reality God only ask us to believe his son died for us on the cross and accept him as our savior, no religion involved.

You are so right. There are very many religions around the world. People are often limited in their exposure to different sets of beliefs. Many have opportunities to learn of differing religions and world views, but are comfortable with the teachings of their upbringing. Others search and do not find a church or organization that they feel is in keeping with God's teachings as they understand them.
The question you asked is the same as that of a young boy age 14 a little over a century ago. His name was Joseph Smith. He read in James in the Bible that "if any of you lack wisdom, let Him ask of God", and so he did. (He had been surrounded by a lot of excitement about religion, and was confused.)
God appeared to Joseph, and so did Jesus Christ. The two instructed Joseph that he should not join any of the churches on the earth. And they restored the Church of Jesus Christ through Joseph Smith to this earth. The good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ, is preached to all the earth. And Christ is at the head of his church in these the Latter days. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the name of Christ's church in this dispensation. It is a world-wide church, led by a prophet.
This prophet speaks to all the world, regardless of religious affiliation. All are welcome to learn of Christ through studying and prayer and visiting with our members. In fact, no one in our church is expected to believe anything, or even encouraged to accept any teachings, without first studying it out in his or her own mind and praying about it.
Joseph Smith wrote these thirteen articles of faith:
1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
3. We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.
4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the gospel are first, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, repentance; third, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands, by those who are in authority, to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the primitive church; namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel, and in the restoration of the ten tribes; that Zion (the new Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent, and that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11. We claim the privilege of worshipping almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--we believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report, or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

It doesn't matter what religion you are. All you have to do is believe that Jesus died for your sins and that He was raised from the grave. He took our sins appond Himself and then defeted the grave all for us.
