Try a Spyderco Endura 4. They are very sharp, durable and will last forever with minimal care. I've had my Endura 2 for about 12 years, and it is still my "go to" knife for tough tasks. Spyderco is also one of the few companies that offers high end steels such as VG-10, CPM S30V and ZDP-189 in affordable knives. Many other brands are simply trading on their names while putting out shoddy, dull knives. Spyderco continues to produce cutting edge designs using high quality workmanship and materials, and they will be getting my business if I ever need another knife.

For general use I love the Emerson Cqc-7
I also think the Kershaw Blur is the best all around knife you can get for under $100
This is just my personal opinion there are literally hundreds of great knives that you may like better.
Go to a well stocked quality cutlery store, not a box store or discount retailer and ask to try a bunch out, go with what you like.
But..
for cutting boxes I highly recommend you get a "super-knife" of one of it's Home Depot, or hardware store clones. These can be had for <$25 and use replaceable utility knife blades so you never have to sharpen them, just swap in a new blade when one gets dull or breaks. They are great for most general cutting chores.
Use one of these for work and save your nice, expensive tactical folder for other use.

Blackhawk Blades Crucible

By far, the best knife for anything. Even self defense. These things hold thier edge and are easy to maintain. Simply one of the best you can buy....I dont know if Id dull it up cutting boxes with it though. Maybe just get you one of those folding knives you put razor blades into so once its dull you can just put in a new blade.

I bought a Buck 110 'folding hunter' just before I deployed to DESERT SHIELD in 1990 and have ALWAYS had one on me ever since. It may not be the perfect knife but it is small enough to carry at all times and big enough to do most jobs.

I have a 8 year old Cold Steel Tanto that's still so sharp it scares me and Sears sells a buck type knife under the Craftsman brand, if it breaks you get a new one free.
