I have been struggling with an eating disorder for a while and manage to eat healthily and restrict calories well but my only downfall is chocolate, sweets, ice cream and biscuits! I know about the calories but i can't help myself, after i feel guilty and purge, sometimes making myself sick or others excessive excersise. Please don't say i'm bulimic. Also any tips for hiding weightloss from parents?

I began to limit my intake of diet soda quite a bit, and a side effect of that was I did not crave sweets any longer. I still enjoy soda every now and then, but not several times a day like before. I wonder if soda makes blood sugar go up and down. It was diet so I thought it was ok to drink but now I'm thinking there is some ingredient in it that makes the brain go nutz for sweets. Good luck in discovering what works to calm the craving & make a good choice of what to eat at that moment.

Also, consider when you "crave sweets & nothing ever satisfies" you. Because that is Emotional Hunger. I experience that and it is very hard. It means I want grandma-to-hug-me, or something like that (a comfort, a bit of love, someone who understands & says it'll be all right). But at least the realization that food will never satisfy emotional hunger helps me to understand what is going on inside the brain-stomach connection. On my diet, sometimes I feel like my brain talks to my belly like a 3 year old child kicking another 3 year old child because a toy is missing. Humor saves me sometimes and gets me through those times of Seriously Insane Cravings until the nutty beeping message from the brain to the belly wears off. Maybe think about cravings as a ringtone you have got to change ! Good luck figuring out what are better choices of foods to eat.

Not saying you are bulimic doesn't change the fact that your behavior indicates you are (or are mimicing their behavior).

Purging is not a healthy diet aid. Don't allow your temptation foods in your house, thus it will be harder to binge on them.

No tips for hiding weightloss from parents. They have eyes, you cannot render them blind. Hopefully they will see you have a problem and get you the medical assistance you very much need (and apparently are actually wanting, or you wouldn't have posted a public plea for help...disguised as an over-eating issue).

Get help sugar...your doctor can help with the binging and also getting you on track to a healthy lifestyle so you won't have to worry about your weight..you'll be the size that is healthy for your age and height.

Take care of you...you only get one body in this life.

To control your biscuits, think about, for each extra pound above your ideal weight, your heart has to work harder. For the chocolate and sweet binges, calm "the beast" with fruit, sweet carrots (the little ones are easy to deal with--just wash and eat), and Dum-Dums (little suckers). There are very few calories in them, I can't remember how many at the moment, they come in assorted flavors, and, as of May 30th of this year, I found a new love I hadn't had since childhood! MMMM!

Congratulations on your attempts to live a healthy life. Ice cream and biscuits are over-processed foods (which is my opinion don't even qualify as food), contain tons of unhealthy fats and are truly bad for your body. Why would you want to inflict this to yourself? Sweets are not a clean source of carbohydrates, and are packed with edulcorants, and sometimes, evil artificial sweeteners. DO NOT DRINK DIET SODAS.

There is nothing wrong with chocolate, as long as it's moderately consumed. On the contrary, it's good for you.

You're not bulimic. Believe me, you do not want your body to work on biscuits and sweets. Replace those foods with healthy, delicious, non-processed fruits and vegetables. Get plenty of water.

You'll feel and look much better. Best of luck!

I too struggle with a bad sweet tooth. To minimize the amount of sweets you will crave do the following:

(1) Focus on eating more fruits.
(2) Eat good sources of protein. (Eggs, grilled poultry, cottage cheese.)

The above two things will keep your blood sugar stable and will decrease you cravings for sweets (although it will not completely eliminate it.)

Also, telling yourself that you shouldn't eat any sweets is usually counterproductive. When something is forbidden, it makes it more desirable. It is best to officially allow some sweets into your life. If you do so, you will become less neurotic about sweets.

Try chugging a diet soda or fresca water when you have a craving to binge. This will bloat you and fill you up. When you're bloated, you usually don'twant to eat anymore. Also, chew sf gum (i like orbit--3 calories!). to hide weightloss, wear baggy clothes, lots of layers (sweaters, etc), and if they're like "why aren't you eating?" make up lots of excuses. "I ate at my friends house" "I'm not hungry yet, I'll eat later" "I just ate a huge [meal]"

I know it's hard (i'm a recovering anorexic) but try to talk to someone and get help. I almost died. and lots of people do. Eating disorders are the deadliest mental illness.

firstly, chocolates are so hard to resist. that's the truth. But one thing I learned is to condition yourself mentally. You see, eating sweets will satisfy you in just minutes. But the price you'll pay will last you a lifetime. Think of all the wardrobe change you're gonna do to change your size from a 4 to 14. That's extra expense in your pockets. Your health will also be at risk if you grow too fat. Another expense for hospitalization. See? it's not worth a bar of chocolate.

Don't get down on your self. It's ok. I watch what I eat by the weight watcher's points. It really does help and it's easier to me rather than counting calories. Then you can save your points for something little, like a piece of chocelate. I normally eat one little piece of candy at the end of the day kinda before I go to bed so It motivates me to get through the day. To me it's better to have it before bed then you don't get any other cravings for something else. Hope it helps!!

a herb called chromium will help the urges...take one half hour before you eat......at all meals (3)...also take omega 3-6-9 at meals and that will help speed up the metabolism naturally so you can have that little sweet once in a while...(notice how i said once in a while?)....as for hiding your weight loss from your parents you do have an eating disorder and I suggest you speak with them before you do any more harm to your self.....which is why I recommended natural herbs...cause you have to have permission from your parents if you are under 18.....

Do you buy the groceries? If so, stop buying that stuff.

If your parents buy the groceries, tell them about your wishes.
