'Bowels' are actually the intestines, usually referring to the large intestine where digested food starts to form into poo.

Bowels can become twisted, though it's far less common in cats than in dogs. It's usually a result of profuse and/or prolonged diarrhoea, or possibly a congenital condition (something the animal was born with). It usually requires surgery to fix. Hope your cat is OK, she's in the best place!

Yes, it is when the bowel twists around itself. This could mean the stomach or the intestines, so you should ask the doctor which is meant. My grandpa has been in and out of surgery this past year because his colon keeps kinking. Best wishes for you and your kitten, here's some more information on twisted bowel and pets: http://www.petplace.com/dogs/gastric-dilatation-volvulus/page1.aspx

It is just as the term indicates - the bowel gets twisted on itself and the waste cannot move through it. It is a more common occurence in dogs.

Twisted bowel in this case, is where you cat might have her intestines twisted(obstructionof the intestine), which can cause abdominal pain and cramping.
