I was at the mall and while pulling in tapped the silver car next to me.. of course the lady was in the car sleeping! The scrape is no thicker then this --------------------------------- and no longer then 2 inches. I gave the girl all my info and she said shed call me with how much she wants me to give her. ( Something about her husband may be able to fix it.) We both prefer not to go through insurace. How much do you think I am going to have to shell out for this? I took pictures, is there anything I can do if she gives me a rediculous price, or no..?

If she looks for a couple hundred dollars for her time and material, she would be justified.

One of the values of insurance is that take care of bartering, but I understand why you want to work around it.

If she asks for an unreasonable amount, tell yher that you can't and will have to go through the insurance.

She won;t want to that because she just wants to pocket the money.

wow- you are making a really really bad decision to not notify insurance. You obviously dont know what your getting yourself into.

Not only are repair prices ridiculous (you do know this will likely be up towards 1000 dollars right?) but you dont have an expert appraiser working for you and can get ripped off if this ladies body shop gives you a really high estimate.

Also- do you realize you owe her a rental? Also.. what if it gets fixed by you.. and she comes back years later and claims more damage? Are you prepared to handle that?

What if her neck starts hurting?

You are walking on thin ice here... i suggest you call insurance fast.... this is why you pay for it. You really think your rates are going to increase more then a thousand dollars? thats so ridiculous! And thats how much your gonna pay out here!

well, if its a rediculous price, use your insurance, thats what its there for. what do you mean of course she was in the car sleeping? if walked back out and found a scratch even that big on my car, ohhh i would be real mad, do the right thing pay her or if its too expencive, call in the claim.

Yes. The pictures save you. If you get a ridiculous price back from her you can go to small claims.

Usually if you don't go through insurance it is settled quite cheaply so don't worry it will be fair ~~
