It speaks about cultural diversity, not sure about spiritual. Though chimpanzees do a sort of "worship" called 'the thunder dance'.
Just more proof that chimps and we share a common ancestor.

Years ago, I read a USA Today article about Koko, the lowland gorilla raised and trained in American Sign Language by Dr. Francine Patterson. Koko had been practically begging for a kitten, which she promptly named All Ball and took wonderful care of. The article I read concerned All Ball's death.

Dr. Patterson, after giving Koko the sad news, asked her if she understood what this meant. Koko signed, as best I can remember, "All Ball long sleep goodbye." She then wailed with grief, and mourned the loss of her pet for days.

Not only do primates teach and learn, they have emotions, and as Koko had proven, they understand, and they have the ability to think. Not everything has to be instinct.

They have desires (a kitten). They play. Have you ever seen a male silverback gorilla gently tickling a youngster with a flower? Both are laughing and enjoying this most basic of childhood pleasures. In truth, all animals play. Macaques even make snowballs.

How anyone can deny that we are not a part of this great kingdom we call animals is beyond me.

Recently, I read a news article about a chimpanzee troupe in Africa that has been observed and documented hunting with *spears.*

Yes, SPEARS.

If they start knapping flint, I say we take 'em out. Anyone who's seen "Planet of the Apes" knows how THAT story ends!

There is science and there is evolution. There are scientists. There are no evolutionists. It is not a belief system.
