I hate to be lied to for any reason! I absolutely expect people to be honest with me completely, and I do not put up with anything less than that. If anyone lies to me, even if it is to spare my feelings, they are likely to lose my trust, my respect and probably my friendship.

I am very blunt and to the point, and it has always served me well. If people don't like me for it, then it is best they don't ask me a question that they don't want to hear the answer to.

Being blunt is not the same as being mean, unfortunately the majority of people don't want to see it that way. The problem is that most people don't want to hear what people REALLY think (because it might be too painful to hear) and therefore they are likely to cover their own opinions with fluff in the hopes that other people will do the same for them. Unfortunately, our culture mostly condones this behavior, and therefore the truly honest people are likely to be looked down upon and labeled as "rude". That is actually O.K. with me, since most people who are bluntly honest are also usually very confident and able to deal with rejection and ridicule without too much trouble.

politely honest about what they " believe "
that is different to truth though

ok you called me out
I value others feelings more than my version of the truth
my truth may not be the only truth
what is truth ?
I think you need to give an example of what you mean here

There are ways you can be polite while being honest. The two really have nothing to do with one another.

Like Moms everywhere have said...Honesty is the best policy. LOL! But, they have also said...If you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say anything at all. :) You can be Honest and polite at the same time. Remember, we all have our faults. Thanks for asking, have a Blessed day.

May I suggest: You ask--don't funnel thoughts from others to your agenda. Being politically correct is not as important as relating truth. Truth can be told in a civil manor. You do not have to insult to be truthful. Truth is neutral , You don't have to be rude. to be truthful

A little of both would be nice.

I would rather someone would whisper in my ear that I have something hanging out of my nose, than yell it from across the room.

You can be polite and honest. They are not at odds with each other. There is no need to be sarcastic and nasty when being honest.
