As you know, allopathy - as the modern medicine is known - is not foolproof. So there's no guarantee that you won't be able to fool the doctor. But we do have a term in medicine called 'malingering'. Basically, it means the patient is trying to act sick when s/he is not.
Mostly, doctors consider this diagnosis only after all the investigations along with history and examination don't add up to a diagnosis. In fact, we have a syndrome called ' Munchausen Syndrome' in which people fake their health so much that they are willing to get admitted - sometimes by insistence - to the hospital, just to prove that they are , in fact, sick.

Why would u want to fake being sick. I work in a hospital and the ER docs learn how to tell if someone is really sick or just looking for attention, or most often looking for drugs

no, I had serious health issues and went from doctor to doctor for ten years trying to get answers. And they all thought I was faking it, even though I was a doctor. When I became bedridden I finally found a doctor who told me I had Fibromyalgia. So from that experience I don't think doctors can tell if you're really sick.

This depends on the sickness. If you are complaining you have migraine, it will take Dr. Dumbledore to know the truth.
Other illnesses harness symptoms that can be found through irregular heartbeat count, discoloration of eye area, higher body temperature, tongue disparity, swollen appendages etc.
In essence, if it's in the head, a whole new set of tests are required to ascertain the root cause.

Physical examination and investigations always enable us to reach to a diagnosis. If no possible reason is found for the symptoms, we may understand that patient is faking it. Though 'patient' is not really healthy if he/she is doing this, we have to find reason for that too and help him/her.

99.99% of the time you bet they can!!
Most times...they just end up giving you some mild medication....then laugh their a**es off .
And you are put in the "drug seekers" book that all doctors and ERs keep!

I don't think they really care, they write a prescription and it gets picked up, they get their cut from selling a product.
