Great question!

I think It's easier for religious people to have an all-powerful imaginary friend - to love and love them, then it is for them to love their fellow man, warts and all - in the real world.

Faith in God necessarily implies a lack of faith in humanity.

We've got just enough religion to hate each other, but not enough religion to love each other.

i don't think it's for show, as many of my religious friends truly believe in the love of (their) god.

but to say that we need (a) god or some being to define good/bad is total rubbish. if this is the case, then why are so called primitive tribes capable of good/bad yet they don't have the same (Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, etc) god as those who think god is what/who sets the standards.

but, of course this is an argument that will never be won because religious people believe in faith and will hold that up for any answer, regardless if it's logical or not. good luck to them, we all need something to believe in, religion, science or something else.

Even non-religious people are kind & loving. So, if they perform a random act of kindness, does this mean they secretly love G-d? Of course not.
Every religion has true followers with legitimate compassion, & those who perform for publicitys' sake.
I don't want to be in the act of judging someones' motive, as that opens me up to being judged by others.

If you have such a problem with the praise and adoration of the Lord then I suggest you all find another site because even the rocks cry out His praises. Oh, for the 1000th time, I'm not religious. I'm a blood-bought Christian. My life is built on nothing less than Jesus' love and righteousness. Sorry, it upsets you so. But you could always join the winning team. We'd love to have you even more than Satan would love to keep you!

No I do not believe it is for show after all every good act is empowered by God,all that is good within us comes from Him and we recognize this by proclaiming His Name in the good we perform.

Yes, it is just a big show of "Look at me, I'm super holy and better than you". I'm not impressed. I don't believe in making announcements and patting yourself on the back every time you do a good deed.

Why is my love for God and Jesus have to be for show? Can't I feel love for them both and let that love reflect in my everyday life? Could it be that you are using your refusal to let God into your life blind you to something wonderful? Maybe your sullen, questioning antics are just a show; covering for someone who is afraid to face their feelings?

If I understand your question properly, .....no.
People who say they can do good without God are deceiving themselves.
Why?
Because 'good' needs a definition.
Who decides what 'good' is?
You won't let me tell you and you're not going to tell me.
We both need a higher, common source to provide the definition.
