I met this guy a few days ago, one of my friends introduced me to him. This new guy got my number from my friend and called me last night and asked me out. I said I couldn't. He said he was going to call today so we could see each other. He's going to call me in the next 2 or 3 hours and I don't want to hang out with him, I just don't. Should I just not pick up? He might get the message then...

I doubt if he'll get the "message". Just tell the guy gently that while it's nothing personal you are not particularly interested in him enough to date or hang with.
I know it's hard ... but I got the sense this guy will continue calling unless you are very straighforward with him. Tell your friends not to pass out your number to people you don't know..

Definetly pick up the phone just tell him you made other plans. Then ask "is this your number" and then say i'll call you one day when i'm free. If you don't answer and just brush him off he might just keep calling and it might be really akward between you and your friend that gave him your number.

You can't not answer, he'll just keep calling, I would just say I wasn't honest with you, I've meet someone the other day and I sort of want to go out with him and say he called last night, be humble, say it has nothing to do with you, I just want to go out with him. Say that your sorry, you didn't mean to miss lead him, that you just felt bad to say no because you didn't want to hurt any ones feelings. If he's bold enough to want to know who he is say, you'd rather not say. Later if you see him and he wants to know how it went you can just say it didn't work out. I don't like to lie either, but sometimes to spare someones feelings I think it's ok.

well if u dont pick up he's gonna try to tlk to u in person, so what im saying is that u should pick up and say something lik"im sry but i dont wanna go out with u, but can we still b friends?" that'll give him the message in a nice way without ignoring him

i think you tell him you can go out but just for a few hours because you have somethin that night or whatever...i think you owe the guy at least to get to know him...if you dont like him even after a few hours then tell him you dont think its gonna work...at least you tried...
but if you really cant stand him tell him no in a nice way like "i dont think you and me will work out" or maye tell him you have a crush on someone else..lol

yah, keep making excuses and i think he'll get the idea. if he doesn't, then you can be frank and tell him how you feel... that is, if you are sure he's interested in you and not your friendship. because if he just wants to be friends with you, then i think it's alright to hang out with him. if in doubt, always bring a third party. don't go on a date with him. always bring with you a friend if you hang out with him.

be direct. he's being a douchebag and pursuing long after he should've stopped when you said "i can't" and didn't suggest an alternative time (i assume you didn't).
so give it to him straight. "i don't want to go out with you, but thanks."
as a guy, i would love it if girls were this direct. any normal guy should be able to accept the statement from a girl that she doesnt want to go out with him. that's life. not everyone wants to go out with you.
this way he will probably stop bugging you.
