Each one probably has a different reason. But I would say that a major reason is that they are similar to some of the terrorist chieftains in the middle east in this respect.
Just like rebels who know that they are in the wrong and have no hope of victory they want to continue to spout the propaganda that propelled them into the position in which they now find themselves. They want to continue to build up their morale and justify the course of action that they have undertaken and continue to live in denial so that they can feel good about being "in charge" of what goes on in their small sphere of influence. They want others to join them in their denial of the truth so that they can feel supported in their unsupportable position.
That's why they need our prayers that the Holy Spirit would open their minds to God's truth and rescue them from the dominion of darkness, delivering them unto the Kingdom of Christ our Lord in whose name I pray, amen!
2 Corinthians 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Colossians 1:11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Atheism is a belief system of its own and is suitable to a discussion on religion and spirituality. Whether God exists is a valid topic for religious debate.
Some Atheists are actually Agnostic as they are open to logical discourse and would accept proof from either side.
Atheists who claim to accept logic should be Agnostic as currently it is impossible to prove either way and our opinion of the non-existence of God is a belief.
Unchanging belief leads to fundamentalism. Fundamental atheism is just as bad as any fundamental belief.
Keep an open mind be Agnostic. The burden of proof is on the believer.

Religion influences politics. Politics influences the lives of everyone, including atheists. There for we are trying to knock a bit of sense into the religious people to wake up and see that religion has accomplished NOTHING!

There are countless issues in the world going on right now that involve religion, and you don't have to be religious to have an opinion about them. That's like saying that you have to be a liberal to know how you feel about liberalism, or that you have to like President Bush in order to have an opinion about President Bush. You can dislike something, or not be a member of a particular group, and still have an opinion about it and debate it.

can anyone answer this. Why is this question repeated over and over? seriously pal come up with a real question you're just stating the obvious. Use the "Search for question" box then hit search you shall know the answer better yet pray for it lol. There would be no need for religion had it not been for fools who always want answers to every single question. But it seems no human can be happy with leaving some things a mystery or just not question every thing. You should give a look at how many atheist attacks and questions..

Because christians keep asking us questions.
There is a "search" feature on Yahoo Answers. Did you ever think that just maybe we searched for "atheist" and all the questions christians ask us came up?
If you don't want us to be in 'YOUR' section, stop asking us questions.

you know how white is actually the absence of color but yet is still considered a color? same thing with atheists.
atheism isn't really an absence of faith or belief but rather a reaction to conventional religion.

I think it's because Atheism really can't exsist. Everyone has a "faith house" like the houses that some build on the rock and other's on the sand. Whatever house you build- be it a house of faith or "no faith" or atheism, that is still their faith house. it's a belief they have. So in all cases, the rain WILL come.
