introduce wet food moistened with water (NOT milk) at around 3-4 weeks old.
increase the amount of food available to them each week, slowly reducing the amount you moisten it.
eventually the mother cat will stop feeding them altogether and by 8-9 weeks they should be on regular kitten food.
you should have litter available to them already - generally if they see the mother cat going in the litter they will try it out for themselves.

Mama will wean them when they are ready. Usually anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. You should have food available for the mother 24/7.
Put a bit of wet food out for mama and the kittens several times a day. Show the kittens the food. When they are ready they will eat. The kittens will start eating more and more and nurse less.
Kittens will still nurse on their mother for comfort, long after they are weened. It's normal.
The kittens can go to new homes at about 10 -12 weeks.
Please spay mama after the kittens are weaned because there aren't enough homes for all the kittens being born.

You dont wean them, the mother does. The mother should be on kitten food for the extra fat and protein while nursing and at around 5-6 weeks, the kittens will follow her lead with food and the litter box.

Just a note - raspberryswirrrrl ISN'T vet - she claims to be an archaeologist and a nurse in some of her other answers! Makes me sick!
Right, your kittens. From about 4 weeks of age, start offering them canned kitten food (starting off on kibble isn't ideal, it's too hard for them to manage, like giving a baby biscuits). If they're still with their mother they might start eating her food before then, which is fine. They'll still suckle from their mother as they're getting on to solid food.
The kittens should be fully weaned (able to manage on solid food alone) from between about 6-8 weeks of age, certainly by 8 weeks. They may continue to suckle from mum out of habit - once they're weaned though, this is the time to get her spayed as she's already capable of getting pregnant again.
If they're with their mother they will learn their litter habits from her. If not, just popping them in their tray when they go to pee or poo will give them the idea - you will need to put any 'accidental' poos in the tray to teach them, and position the tray away from their food in a vaguely private spot.

Hi there I usually start weaning my kits at around 3.5-4 weeks. Start off by giving them Whiskas kitten loaf on a flat plate, but a tin of evaporated milk and pour a small amount round the edge of the plate, put it in the microwave for around 10 secs just to take the chill of it and give it to the babies, they will lap it up. Then when they are around the 6 week mark give them tuna in oil, small bits of chicken kitten milk too. Hope this helps.

the mother will wean them if your not feeding your mother cat wet food i'd start or if you dont want to go on a different cat food put out an extra dish of watered down dry food so that there are no dry pieces in the dish you'll see them start nibbling at the pieces in the next week or so as for poddy training them i herd that if you sprinkle cat nip in the litter box they're more likely to go

you should start by using small amounts of dry food that you have let soaked in water. this is so they dont choke. Also you dont need to be trained to go on the litter when they get older they will understand and start using the box .
Have Fun , Baby kittens are so cute :)

The kittens will start to needless to say wean themselves over the path of the subsequent week to 10 days yet you may help them alongside somewhat. Get a small sparkling teaspoon and positioned an incredibly small volume of moist kitten nutrition on the tip of it, actually purely a tinsy little bit of the jelly or meat, %. up your kitten and gently open the kittens mouth utilising a finger, whilst the kittens mouth is open pop the nutrition in. some as we talk prefer to eat all the nutrition on the plate (O particular use a flat plate extremely than a bowl so as that they are able to be triumphant in it) others spit the nutrition out as they are actually not incredibly waiting yet. in the event that they spit the nutrition out stand them in the nutrition so as that they get the style of it whilst they wash their paws, this would help to. make certain you have a shallow clutter tray with sparkling clutter in, as quickly because of the fact the kittens provide up ingesting positioned them immediately into the clutter tray. Cats are sparkling animals with the aid of nature so as that they could needless to say commence digging in the clutter. do not challenge to plenty if the kittens commence ingesting the clutter they're going to quickly get the grasp of whats nutrition and whats not! save a shallow bowl of water in person-friendly attain for them every time there is nutrition or clutter around. in case you have not been coping with the kittens achieve this now as they're going to would desire to be human beings friendly to discover new residences, they could waiting to bypass away mum with the aid of 8 weeks of age yet make confident they are ingesting nicely and utilising their tray earlier they bypass to their new residing house.

Wean them at about 4 weeks old. I have always started weaning kittens or puppies with weetabix and milk, gradually getting thicker as they progress and gradually adding appropriate kitten/puppy food.
