will likely keep happening until one is dead.

If they're small wounds, I wouldn't worry about it. Put some neosporin on it and it should heal up nicely. Some petstores sell oral antibiotics if you're worried about infection. I think (The?)CraftyRat.com has some to buy.
If they fight on a regular basis - you'll know if they're actually fighting and not scwabbling (fur-flying, long angry squeals) - seperate them for at least a week and then do some gradual introductions in nuetral territory. Some scwabbling during this time is normal. If they seem to be getting along ok, clean the cage they'll live in, rearrange the cage furnature, give them baths, and put vanilla on both of them and put them back together.
Good luck!

Get a 1-1/2-1/2-floor cage. Give one hamster 1-floor, and the other 1/2-1/2-floor, and separate them by some plastic frames used for making hamsters playgrounds. And, my sis' hamster had injuries that never healed.

Do not permanently seperate them, but do figure out which rat is the one causing the wounds. Male rats sometimes need to be neutered to live without squabbles. You should take your rat to a vet to get him fixed. It's beneficial to you and your rats as they will not fight seriously, they will produce less of a smell, and their fur will become slightly softer.
Be sure to keep him under a close eye for a while afterwards, it'll take a few weeks for the neuter to change his behavior and for him to recover.

The best thing to do at the moment is seperate them. After you do this get some water with salted (dissolved in the water) and lightly dab some of the water on the wound(s) this will disinfect it so i would strongly recommend this! (In case if your vet is closed of if you havn't got the time at the moment to rush off to the vet!) Good Luck.

Well Im no animal behaviouralist but I know when two male dogs fight its usuall a domination thing where both males are fighting for "top dog" postion (to be the dominate male in the pac) desexing both parties stops their desire to mate therefore stopping their need to fight for "top dog". I suggest you desex them

first of all if there still in the same cage you need to separate them ( get another cage even if it's crappy) the hormones in male rats make them fight for the female so when theirs not a female for each of them they'll fight to the death or until separated for some time this wont continue forever it will only happen when they catch whiff of a female

Unless they were together since they were little then it is a very bad idea to keep them together. They were doing this because they were just trying to show there dominance. I ssuggest you take them out before one of them seriously gets hurt.
