I had a kidney stone treated 3 years ago, by Lithotripsy?Lithotropsy?. I have just started to get pain again and been told it could be an infection OR a new stone.
Has any one had subsequent stones and how long did they take to develop?
I was hoping it would be longer than 3 years!!
And for all those who haven't had one they hurt like hell, almost as bad a labour pains, I should know I have 3 kids!!

I haven't had kidney stones but my father did. He had the lithotripsy and all that good stuff done too, then his came back again within a couple years. Ask your doctor for an xray or ultrasound to check, if there is a stone there they should be able to see it. If it's a kidney infection it would show up on a urine test. Good luck! I hope it's not another stone!

Kidney stones only develop with lack of water intake. Just like the deposits in the urinal when not properly flushed, deposits occur with concentrated urine. So to avoid formation of stones, one needs frequent flow of urine and it is only achieved with frequent water intake.

Stone formation is not caused by minerals taken in with water. As a matter of fact, the minerals like calcium present in the stone is helpful. Stone usually consists of uric acid, cholesterol and calcium and phosphates. The role of calcium is to coat the uric acid. Without the calcium coat, uric acid, being an acid burns the kidney tissue and further damages the kidney.

So basically, frequent urination with intake of lots of water prevents stone formation. I am sure that most of the stone formers do not take adequate amts of water. They usually take much coffee, tea, sodas, and alcoholic beverages. All of these will just aggravate ur stone formation. Nothing can replace water to treat kidney stones.

Add magnesium to ur water. It helps dissolve stones more effectively. So too with gall bladder stones.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

I knew it because both of my parents experienced having kidney stones..

Yeah went down to a wrench out of my tool box and that was were I stayed until they hauled me out by ambulance: Had to use a drag line line to get mine out:
Doctor told me I had been too much and body had gone alkaline causing the stone to form. He told me your body has to be slightly acidic.
Where I am at now lot of people get the things because of the water in the area.
One of my neighbors proved that out by switching to bottled water. She was getting them once a year regular as clock work until she switched to bottled water.
