First there is no hell in which people are tormented. See this HP about the condition of the dead: http://www.bythebible.page.tl/

Secondly, God does look upon killing during warfare and murder differently -- (contact for scripture)

However, while individuals fight in wars they cannot do so while believing they are Christians. Thus their "Christianity" as soldiers of war is false.

They need to repent, get baptized into a church where people are not part of the world, they need to produce works of repentance, Christian Good Works.

Matthew 7:21-23 21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord! Lord! shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens,—but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in the heavens. 22Many, will say unto me, in, that, day, Lord! Lord! did we not, in thy name, prophesy, and, in thy name, cast, demons, out,—and, in thy name, many works of power, perform? 23And, then, will I confess unto them, Never, have I acknowledged you,—Depart from me, ye workers of lawlessness!

2 Corinthians 10:4 4For, the weapons of our warfare, are not fleshly, but mighty, by God, unto a pulling down of strongholds,— (Rotherham)

It is true that murder is unlawful by G-d's commandment and strickly forbidden but war falls under another category, war has been a part of israel for a long time many great men rightouse men have required to go to war such as King David, Joshua at jerico etc...etc.... What made these wars any different from any other war, none it did however show us what's the contrast from serving in a war which is for a rightoues cause to one that's not, for instance it'll be a rightouse cause to go to war with a neigboring country that is making threats of anialaition, such as what Iran is being charged of claiming today, This would be a war of self preservation. Here war is mandatory for survivle and murder is waived by G-d for those protecting themselves from the enemy.

Sin by definition meaning that it separates you from God all sinners would go to hell (if there was such a place). Murder for personal reasons or for the "benefit" of society is still murder, never mind the justification.

The larger question I find is murder indeed a sin and do all sins block your communion with God? Another question also is how far does murder stretch? Just the executioner, or the commander, the judge?

My view upon it is that we are given charge of our bodies and therefore have the duty to take care of them so if self-defence or survival necessitates killing so be it. Otherwise we would not honour the gift of life bestowed upon us which would be a worse crime. We should however valueing life, optimize life and if my personal demise would prevent the deaths or suffering of many others my life should be sacrificed willingly. Therefore taking of life is "good" if there is no other alternative to preserve a greater amount of life. In all other cases, except to end enduring pain, I would consider it to be detracting from the created universe and therefore "bad".

The other reasons for murder, which subordinate our self-control to emotions, other sins, nationalism, peer pressure and beliefs allow an inanimate force to overtake the control granted to our spirit. A person commiting murder for these reasons has already before the murder lost his connection to his spirit and therefore also to God, murder is just a symptom of his sinful state. So I would conclude that most soldiers, since they are willing to kill for political reasons, are living in a sinful state. This excludes the soldiers protecting themselves, their people or seeking to end the inflicting of enduring pain.

However the taking of lives, regardless of the reason, goes contrary to our social instincts, which leads to cognitive disonance and a disturbed relationship with our fellow beings. This disonance often becomes so strong that even those who have murdered for "good" reasons lose the communinion and thereby fall into a sinfull state.

CONCLUSION:
War, in general, attracts the sinfull and leads the non-sinfull to fall into a state of sin.

All people will have to give an account for their sins! Whether your government sends you or not is irrelevant!
A lot of people don't understand , yet when God sent the armies against people , it was done to show others the power of Almighty God! Now, understand this, If God that created a life, takes a life ,it is no sin because God created all life to begin with! But, for a man who just lives life like all other men to take a person's life, there is still much wrong in that!
Consider this: King David wanted to build God a place of residence like a Temple, but God told him No! Why? Because He told David that David had a lot of blood on his hands! Solomon who was David's son built the Temple!
Remember this: Sin is never right even if it is considered by men to be justified in the sight of God. Also, everything that you do is being recorded and documented and you will have to give an answer for it on the Day of Judgement!

Though killing of an enemy is an act of defending yourself in a war, it is still a life that you have taken away. A life of a 'Father' maybe which you have taken away from his children and wife. A life of a son. A life of a human being used by their 'Leaders' as an instrument of arrogants and wrong beliefs.

WAR is the SIN and the LEADERS of the countries at war are the true SINNERS.

People fighting in wars rarely commit murder and when they do they are severely punished. I am a former US Marine and fought in the Vietnam War and never witnessed murder by one of my fellow Marines but I did see this with our enemy who were not Christians. In combat we may kill numerous times but murder is extremely rare.

The most difficult thing for Christian warrior to do is to keep from hating their enemy and love them instead and also to refrain from attitudes of vengence. To be hate filled or to act in vengence is sinful for a Christian warrior and must be avoided. If a Christian warrior is able to continue his love for his enemies he avoids sin and the results from sin.

That commandment is pretty clear...it says "Thou shall not kill". Doesn't say "except in the case of war'...or "except when ordered to by some myopic little toad of a man".... It's pretty clear to me that the soldiers are breaking that commandment. I guess we'll see them in hell won't we? Of course some religious types will try and come up with some vague Bible verse to interpret in some way to justify the killing...but hey...killing is killing...right?
