That's what I'm like , because I always tend to think that the worst part of a holiday or going abroad is the flight but when I went last April, it was fine. They've improved the food now and I always get travel sick, so I tried a travel sickness pill for the first time and it sent be straight off to sleep before we'd even taken off, that's because it was a long journey though so I had to get a drowsy one - if you're not travel sick then I don't see what you have got to worry about! Flying is the safest form of transport and you're in the hands of so many professionals once you're in the air. Obviously it can depend on the airline but I know that Virgin provides briliant entertainment services, with many newly released films and music, plus games, the news and much more. You can walk around the plane too and if you've got a window seat then that's something to be looking forward to! Don't panic though, just stop and think about it - how many times a day do planes take off at all the major airports in the world? There's such a small chance of anything catastrophic happening. When you're feeling down or you're panicing just think of the good times you've had before when you reach your destination, wherever it may be. Just hink about all the happy times you'll be having, once you get off the plane!
Hope this helps you calm down a bit and have a good time!!!

I was terrified of flying too, but went to see my local hypnotherapist. Had 2 sessions and really wasn't sure that it would work, but it did!!!!! The previous time flying before my hypnotherapy I was petrified, but this last time I was able to look out of the window at the clouds below me (could never have done that before). Also had my portable DVD player with me, and once we were in the air, watched a movie which took my mind off the flight.

The hypnotherapy was so successful that I am actually looking forward to flying again, which I never thought I would be able to do!!!!

One word of advice, get a recommendation from any friends about a good local hypnotherapist as there are so many charlatans about. The whole procedure takes about an hour, and it's not like the Paul McKenna stuff, so nothing to be scared about. If the hypnotherapist is good, she/he will relax you and explain everything before they begin.

Good luck :)

Flying is a great way to travel, just so long as you land in the same condition as you were when you took off.

The last time I did any commercial flying, I had a great time, no complaints, but since then, I have learned how to fly a twin engine plane myself, and now I prefer to do all the flying myself, I am very safe in the air and I feel very comfortable being up there, close to God. Although, it is getting sort of crowded up there.

Have a good flight, an don't be concerned with any safety issues, the airlines have everything covered, so you can have an enjoyable flight.

Good luck

What is going to happen?
When you leave your house every morning do you think- I'm going to get run over today?
When you get in your car do you think- I'm going to be in a fatal accident today?
When you get on a train do you think- this is the train that has a terrorist bomb on it?
Everyone feels nervous (even slightly) on take- off- after all, even the pilot wants it to be in the air and not on the ground- that's the whole purpose of the flight.
Think about-- where you are going and what you will do when
you get there
the other people flying with you
the skill and expertise of the pilot
the fact that flying is still the safest form of
transport
how many flights take off and land very day
without harm
Good luck with the journey and have a good time!!

I used to feel as you do until I discovered Bach's Rescue Remedy! You can buy a little bottle of this stuff at Boots The Chemists for about £4 - WELL worth it!

You are supposed to put a few drops of the liquid (made from flowers and spirit) onto your tongue before take-off (or before an exam or any stressful time) and it'll calm you.

I usually put about 10 drops on my tongue about 20 minutes before take-off. It makes me totally laid-back and gives me a couldn't give a s***, let's do it attitude. Really!

I just couldn't fly without it. Try it - you'll never fly without it either!

Most airflights suply you with sweets to suck when you take off and land so your ears dont pop. If you are on a flight which doesn't have them pring your own like you could have peardrops, maltessers, liqurish and all sorts of sweets. Then again if your a vegitarian you could always nibble on a carrot lol

hope this helped

Ive flown 28 times, every time was good.

It is safer than crossing the road in a busy town, and you probably do that without thinking.

Se if you can get a passenger buddy, also a first timer. (Be safe though).

Yes, if the Aircraft is still not Airbourne after 90 seconds you have plenty to worry about.Dont worry you are in good hands and modern Aircraft are very safe.Even if an engine flips out it will be capable of taking off and landing in complete safety. If you are still worried ask the Captain if you can sit on his lap Ooppps.
