whitley bay- we have Welch's sweet factory, owned by Denise Welch's family. Robson Green lived a couple of streets away from me, have seen Tim Healy, Brendan Healy, and Mick Quinn (ex-NUFC) in my local. Live near Wallsend where Sting comes from, and you actually see bits of Hadrian's Wall around the town. There's also a fantastic Roman site there called Segedunum. Can't think of anything really interesting unfortunately. John Middleton who plays Ashley in emmerdale also comes from Whitley Bay, and he's up here quite a lot.

Newmarket. There are almost as many horses as people and they certainly have right of way in the town, though mostly they have their own walkways. Horse racing started in Newmarket (not KentuckY!) when the King used to nip up from London to watch it. So our museum is - of course - one dedicated to Horse Racing. Apart from the methane generated it is a fairly eco friendly pursuit and the birds seem to clean up the mess ! KP www.silverhairs.co.uk
