I do not believe they should have,it would be a double standard. You are right. Teachers just get edgy and need to practice what is preached to take a time out(really). when I was in school teachers beating on students was the norm. there was a kid in class that sported long hair, the teacher despised that poor lad each day a ritual of that kid being taken to the teachers office and getting the heck beat out of him till blood came out the kids ears. Sure, we mentioned to principle (good ol boy thing i guess) anyway, a couple weeks later the young lad killed himself. I can give details on who this teacher was, whoever wants to go after that Nazi, but I do believe he has passed away long ago.
Adult parents are told not to use corporal punishment.
If I ever hear word of my kids being treated by a teacher like above story, then lord have mercy upon the soul that occupies that body which trespassed on my child,as I will render it useless. (adults only, justification,. verification, possible legal ramifications apply)

Let's back up here one moment and realize we are not living back in time when this action was permissable. If you know of a teacher that beats their students then you shouldn't be asking the public if we think it is ok for them to pursue such an action, you should be reporting this teacher for these actions! Do you think it is ok for teachers to beat students & do you truely believe there are excuses for these teacher's such as, "their tension due to personal problem(mainly from home). There is NO EXCUSE for such actions! If any teacher beat my child, their personal problems at home would look minute, compared to the problems I would inflict upon them. They would discover that being severely handicapped would now be their #1 personal problem.

of the Parent.

Many Parents felt the same way you do.
So the Rule on who did the beatings changed.

To be honest i think the do have a right to beat students but the there must be rules and regulations set. Coz in the world we live in now you get thousands of kids (students) that don't have manners coz their parent are way to pathetic to teach their children manners plus if you know when i I'm gonna do this and this and you know you are gonna get beating for it you wont do it

In some of the school districts in Tennessee in the USA, teachers and principals are allowed to use corporal punishment unless the parents sign a waiver saying NOT to paddle their child. I signed the waiver, because I feel that if my child's behavior is that out of control my husband and I need to handle it, not an educator.
Peace.
