I am majoring in electrical engineering, but I have so much anxiety..I feel like I won't graduate till I'm 30. That's the only thing I'm worried about..graduating old. I had some problems with focusing, and so I did not get much done my first 2 years in college. Now, I am almost 20 and much more serious. Will I be ok? Will I be too old when I graduate? Am I a loser cuz I slowed down in college? Have I wasted my life yet?

Relax, and take a step back. I'm in college myself, and it seems the trend these days to get out as fast as you can, but I always find myself asking why. There's no shame in graduating older, and you end up entering the field with more experience and knowledge then if you had rushed into things. Plus, you're only 20, so you're still pretty young. I know people who have changed majors probably like five times before settling, or waited till the last possible minute to start exploring majors, and they are all content while others are rushing through their own majors and are miserable with their lives. Slowing down isn't a bad thing, just make sure to aim high and achieve your goal!

When I started studying for my degree I was almost 30, by which time I had some 7 years work experience under my belt. It was very tough when I started, but I stock it out and now I am at the end of the road which lasted for 5 years. What you need to do is relax and try to stay focus. I am quite sure after a few semester you will get a hang of things. Just remember to focus on the basics now so later in your studies it will be a walk in the park.

I think I know how you feel. I did my physics degree some time ago and felt the same at various points...I am sure most people do when they have these huge projects to complete. I remember reading about a brick builder building a wall. If he stood back and looked at what he had to build he would stop and just wouldn't believe that he could build the wall. If he started with just one brick and focused on that brick and then the next, within a few months his wall was built. I found, and hopefully you will, that if you focus on your current assignment, or lab work, or exam, then you can get the work done....one brick at a time.

The more you worry and fret about it, the less time and energy you will have to study. What counts in any field is learning the subject matter, not necessarily how long it takes. Many employers prefer more maturity in applicants. You have at least 50 years before you can determine if you have wasted your life.

Dude it's never too late or you're never too old.. i've heard people graduate even past their 40's. If you set you're mind on that course i think you wont even reach 25! and it's a damn good course if you're really into it.
