I have a 98 Cavalier and would like to install a factory stereo in the car, however i want to know is there any non-theftlock factory GM cd players that will work in this particular car?

Just about all GM radios of this era are equipped with Theftlock. However, the Theftlock system is disabled by default. It's only active if a vehicle owner has turned it on. If you locate a radio that fits in your car, there's a good chance it will work even if it's Theftlock-equipped.

You can make any GM DIN -1/2 style non-Bose radio work in your vehicle, but with some you may need to install different mounting brackets to secure it to the dash. Some radios that will drop in without changing brackets are found in the 98-02 S-10, S-15, Jimmy, or Blazer; the 95-00 Lumina or Monte Carlo; the 97-00 Malibu; the 97-99 Venture or Montana, or any 95-99 Cavalier.
