My ram overheats, especially when turning the A/C on. After inspecting Ive noticed a leak on the right (inlet) side of the radiator. Now I know I'll have to replace the radiator but anybody know the cause and why the A/C effects it. Is it my condensor or thermostat? Appreciate the help in advance.

You AC effects it because it's putting a load on the engine. if you have a leak at the radiator check and see if it's a cracked tank or if it's the core that is leaking. Most often if you take the radiator to a radiator repair shop they can replace just the tank for a fraction of the cost of a whole radiator. if you need a core then you have to buy a whole new radiator. Since you have to pull the whole cooling system apart anyway, might as well swap out the upper and lower hose and replace the thermostat. That way you have a rock solid cooling system to get you though the summer.

repair or replace the radiater turning on the ac. will always increase a overheating condition.the truck over heats due to low coolant..this gets worse when ac is on because the ac brings heat from the air into the refrigerant and moves it to the condenser where it is removed by the fan.so the airflow that is cooling the radiator is hotter than when the ac is off.

older dodges always had cheap material on there trucks and thats why there is a small defect in your radiator. youll have to change the radiator on it soon. when u have the AC on it makes the motor run more to get that cold air inside but thats with every vehicle.

The 318 could be between the ideal 2-3 engines of all time for ersatility and sturdiness. i've got considered previous stay sparkling of trucks pull race autos around the country with 3 hundred,000 plus on them. i'm no longer incredibly a stay sparkling of fan, however the 318 is a rock.
