Your share of social security tax is 6.2% of your gross salary until you have earned $92,000, at which time the tax drops to 0%.

Medicare tax is 1.45% of your gross salary.

Federal income tax can vary greatly from one person to the next. It depends on how often you are paid, whether you are single or married and how many exemptions you claim. The more exemptions you claim, the less they take out for federal tax. However, watch out. Some people think it is a good idea to claim 10 or 11 exemptions so that no federal tax is withheld from their check. They reason that they should be earning interest on their money, not the IRS. The problem with this logic is that you will almost always owe money when you do your taxes. If you owe alot, you will also owe for underpayment penalties. When you fill out you W-4, try to be as accurate as possible with your information.

Nevada does not have any state income tax.

Figure about $56 per pay for federal income tax, $61 for social security and medicare, which would leave about $683 for two weeks, or $1366 for four weeks. Since a month is closer to 4-1/3 weeks than just 4 weeks, you'd get about $100 more than that per month. This assumes that you're single and don't have any dependents.

depends on your status. single 0 dependents. married. married with dependents, but usually you will lose 15% of your check for taxes. So for $1600 you should bring home $1360 roughly. hope that helps.
