Well, first of all dogs don't sweat, so you don't have to worry about that.
Ask your vet about a tick collar called Preventic. It won't keep the fleas off, but it will kill ticks for 3 months. I use this on my working Pyr and Border Collie who are out in rough brush all the time and it works like a dream. Costs around $10-15. The collar combined with the Frontline keeps my dogs tick and flea free, despite running over thick brush on the ranch 24/7.

It helps them. Frontline spot-on actually spreads throughout the skin via the sebaceous (sweat) glands. Sweat will not wash it off, that would be a pretty lousy product design!
If you use Frontline regularly you don't need a tablet for ticks because it is a tick preventative - only for up to two weeks though, so if there are a lot of ticks in your area you need to use it every two weeks (yes, it's perfectly safe to use this often). Frontline is also safer than tablets because it only acts on the skin, it is not systemic.

EDIT: Whoa, lot of misunderstanding in these answers - while dog's don't sweat the same way we do, they certainly have sebaceous glands throughout their skin, and this is what Frontline moves through. Check this out: http://www.canismajor.com/dog/skin1.html

Dogs do not have sweat gland like we do. They pant to get rid of excess heat. If you live in a humid area, I have heard that frontline is more waterproof and may be a better option just because of the humidity in the air, but you don't have to worry about sweat. If you are interested in a natural option here is a great link. We live in Florida and have had no problem with fleas, ticks or mosquitos.

Dogs do not sweat except for their paw pads. That is why they pant to cool themselves down. Frontline is the best product for tick control in my opinion because it kills more varieties of tick than any other product out there. It gets down in the hair follicles and is waterproof after 48 hours. For best results, wait at least 48 hours AFTER a bath to apply Frontline, the product needs to have a little bit of natural oil on the skin to spread itself properly. There is no pill to kill ticks.

Dogs don't sweat, they pant. I'm pretty sure. My dad uses the Frontline on his farm dog that swims a lot and it still works just fine. You should be okay with it. Not sure about any pills though.

Dogs only have sweat glands on their paws and nose,so it will not affect the Frontline,(which is an excellent product,by the way) You will need Frontline Plus for ticks.Nasty things! Good luck in getting them off your doggy!

If I'm not mistaken, dogs do not sweat. Panting is their way of cooling themselves, rather than sweating like in humans. Hopefully someone can confirm.

Dogs do not sweat; they control their body heat by panting.
