Gambling is regulated by the Nevada Gaming Commission and you KNOW everything is on the up and up. Your odds are better. Your drinks are comped and you may be comped to meals and rooms, depending on your level of play. Vegas has shows, free entertainment, and many, many other things to do besides gambling. Indian Casinos are isolated from other casinos as a general rule. In
vegas if you don't like one you can walk next door and next door, and next door.

How could you even ask such a question? First off, there is the atmosphere- you can't beat Vegas for that (even if it is over the top most of the time). But not only that, going to Vegas is a vacation- going to an Indian Casino is a day trip. Vegas has so much more things to offer- shows, great food, etc. Finally, an Indian Casino is just one place. If you don't like it, what are you going to do? Drive another 3 hours to another one? In Vegas, if you don't like one casino, there are 20 more just minutes away.

I grew up a mile from Foxwoods...I've never been to Vegas yet. I've been to Atlantic City though. Foxwoods is definately a nice place to go if you want to take a day and gamble or shop or eat...its all there. Foxwoods is the largest casino in the world and they are always adding on to it. But, you won't be by the water or be able to exit and do other things because it is located in a very very rural town...Ledyard is a small town in CT and some years ago the Indians took back their land, and now dominate that area. Unlike other casinos, this is regulated by "them" alone ... they don't pay state taxes for the use of roadways for their tour buses. Mohegan located in Norwich CT .. same deal. When I was young, going the reservation was a field trip to Tpees and Totem Poles in the woods of Ledyard, now the reservation consists of huge homes, pools, pharmacy of their own, rec centers and mostly for just the indian descent's use; but their children attend public schools....but they have supplied a great number of jobs to the area and that's a good thing!
My mother worked there before she died (after putting in 27 yrs at a credit union and then being kicked to the curb, so to speak) and they were very very good to her. She was able to get her kemo at the reservation pharmacy and take it to her doctor which saved so much money for her and the people at Foxwoods were just wonderful to our family after she passed away nearly 9 years ago now, so there is something to be said for those people ~~ when they take you under their wing.
It may not be Vegas, or Atlantic City, but it is definately worth the trip if you like gambling... so many places to do that, from the many many slot rooms to the high rollers tables ... you'll always find it at Foxwoods. Try Foxwoods sometime.... and enjoy the Indian ambiance.

VEGAS all the way. The dealers are nicer and the casinos are bigger and less cramped than Indian casinos.

That and Vegas is far enough away that you can actually leave your problems at home, while Indian casinos are too close to have any real fun.

I prefer Las Vegas because of the other activities that are available to you there. Good entertainment, great restaurants and plenty of other things to do when you want to take a break from the gambling for a while.
