I was the school athlete, the religious freak and a best friend for some...

It was me that some guys hated the most for my intellectual debates that got them dissed and tripped big time when they were trying to throw a heated debate on life...

Today... I'm just an ordinary guy like others but what makes me different from the rest is how we all relate to one another.

None of those. I was the person who could hang out with almost any group but was not truly a part of any of them. I guess I was a bit of many things. I was on the tennis team, the swim team, and the soccer team. I was also in the French Club, the Chess Club, and the Honors Society. I was never in the band, but I was (and I still am) very good at the piano and the drums. I had friends that were nerds, jocks, members of the R.O.T.C., the band, and unaffiliated. At my final honors Sociey Awards Banquet, they played "Cult of Personality" by Living Color for me. That probably sums me up best. Oh, I was also a virgin until college.

I was the guy with the 1960 VW bus with the surfboard(Gordon and Smith 9' speed board) in back, who after football or baseball practice would spend the rest of the day at the beach.I dated a Theater Major .She was later the star of Love Boat(she changed her name for show biz) then disappeared from the scene.I liked the Theater people. They were so odd in a charming way. This one girl would dress in a winter coat and beret like Mary Tyler Moore in the beginning of her show...and walk across campus like a camera was on her.It was So. Calif. and 80 degrees. She was great.I liked everybody and got along with all types.

Not was I *AM* the chick who does everything possible, whether it be hanging out with the cheerleaders or the druggies(my brother is a druggie) I'm the band geek, I'm on color guard(not ROTC but marching band) Forensics(speech debate) I usually with the drama kids & the kids who are smart to funtion, or the super seniors (the people who will be there for 5 years) My thinking if you can't beat them join them.

I was a loner! Because I didn't find any of the people authentic. And my preference was I would rather stand alone than be with a crowd that had morals of dirt.
I was always the person people came to with their problems but, then turned around and decided the friendship that I gave to them wasn't good enough to hold a friendship with. And thats ok with me. I will always be there for anyone that needs me. Its sad to realize at 15-16 years old that you have to do 'bad' things to fit in a crowd. And I wanted no part of that.

I was the geek turned cool because I stole all the books out of about 20 jock's lockers, so nobody wanted to screw with me after that. I took my 3 days suspension.

I was a geek with some small semblance of social skills; I was too smart to be popular and too popular for the smart kids.

And they'll all love me at our tenth reunion.

Part band geek, part drill team - too bold for my own good and naive in many ways.

I like to say I transcended cliques, but it was really that I wasn't in any. Did some drama, band, track, and got good grades. Getting ready to go to my 20th reunion next weekend.
