I never feared death. Perhaps that's why i never joined the xian cult or any other cult.

I don't relish the idea of a painful death (I don't think anyone does) -- so, like most people, I hope i go with a minimum of pain. But, death doesn't scare me. I find it interesting. I'm in no hurry to discover what happens "after" -- only because I'm enjoying what I'm doing here, now. I still have other things I want to do here, but death isn't always in our control. Few people get to choose when they die.

But, I guess I find death to be an intriguing "transition".

I don't pretend to know a god, and I don't pretend to have knowledge of what happens at death.

But for those who fear death without the protection of a cult and the cult's framework -- is it that fear that drives them to their cult and keeps them there? If they leave the cult or drop it, do they fear a consequence?

Slightly unrelated, but I do relish the idea of a painful death. I hope to be shot, stabbed, burned, or just dying unnaturally in any situation with a lot of excitement and adrenaline.

I think many would describe it a death cult in that these religions are more concerned with an afterlife rather than their current life. Everything they do is in preparation for when they die. So in fact a monotheist who believes in an after life would fear death as well because it is the consequences they assume follow death that they are afraid of. Death is seen as the start of either the eternal punishment or the heavenly bliss.

Do you even know what the meaning of a "cult" is?

In religion and sociology, a cult is a term designating a cohesive group of people (generally, but not exclusively a relatively small and recently founded religious movement[1]) devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture or society considers to be outside the mainstream.

There you go, not exactly the definition of Christianity.

Well, most people do fear death, so cults especially play on people's fears to hold them to their group. It's wonderful you do not fear death. Just go on enjoying your life to the fullest.

They better fear a consequence if they stay with the cult! And they'll experience plenty of pain where they're going, and fear too, but unfortunately it will be too late!!!

Great book about the Tibetan Buddhist perception of death called "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying". Its a hard read, but has some great ways of looking at things. I'm with you in that it doesn't scare me, I have seen my share - up close and personal. It is the reality of our lives.

Its always easy to not fear death when your not dying. Do you think you would think differently if you were on your death bed? I dont know a god or really fear death, but i bet when im 80 and dying i will begin to question a lot more.

No.

It really increases your fears and worries.
Study the Christian religion as oppose to all others and you will begin to understand that it is like no other.

nah...perhaps there wouldn't be so much fear of death without the 'possibility of going to hell' deal.

Only you and how you choose to utilize your brain will calm your fear.
