I would say no. As a firefighter/emt I see all kinds of stuff that doesn't bother me, except children. Children always bother me. However, if it's an adult, all I say is tough luck and drive on. I see guys coming back from calls in tears and I can't figure out why. So if there is something wrong with you, then there is something wrong with me and a whole bunch of other people I know. Of course, I used to be in the Army too, so that may have something to do with it. Maybe all that crap they tell you in basic works. Remember what makes the green grass grow? Or better yet, do you remember the spirit of the bayonet? Maybe, just maybe, it really does work. Perhaps that is why the military does all those studies? Hmmmm, I think this may be a good question to ask, or maybe not.

I have read that some people do blank it all out and it doesn't affect them at the time, if you had said you enjoy seeing people being blown to bits then I would have said you do need to get help.

Even so I would still talk to someone about it, the fact that you space out when you see bad things happen means that your mind is blocking this out to keep control of your emotions while you are in these situations, but this could and may effect you later when you are away from all this and trying to lead a normal life, so you need to know how to handle this if or when it happens.

No, of course not. You would probably make a great green beret. If you can stand that sort of stuff, you could become an elite solider. Or a good doctor. I like it when things go "boom" too and "sick" things, like you described, don't seem to phase me either.

Hun, you aren't the only one who joined the army to blow stuff up. I know a few 21Bs, combat engineers, one of which is quite open about the fact that he chose that MOS to be able to blow stuff up. So don't worry about that.
If seeing the blood and guts doesn't bother you, hey, more power to you. But if you space out _because_ you see it, then you may want to get help. But if it's just a case of seeing it doesn't bother you, then don't worry about it.

Everyone has different responses to circumstances. It just depends on how de-sensitized you were as a child. If your parents allowed you to watch graphic movies, tv, etc. then you are probably just not sensitive to things like that. It doesn't mean you are sick or need to be tested. And I don't know if you are a psychopath. But you certainly sound like you just have a higher tolerance than most people.

I believe that its a natural reaction for some people to block their emotions when they have to see hideous scenes like that... or maybe you can thank prime time TV for dulling your emotions to death and gruesome stuff! Either way, best bet would be to seek council : )

are you serious asking this question? or are you out for attention or something. first off, its not cool to talk about that crap to civilians, it dosnt make you sound cool or anything. but soldiers are desensitized after we come back from combat. others deal with it better than others though. go to your SWAPP eval and tell this crap and keep it off this site
