I don't know if that is the exact quote, but we've all heard people say "I have a right to my own opinion." I was just wondering who originally said it and in what book/speech/etc. it actually started in. Also what the original context of the quote was (i.e. the rest of the paragraph). I heard someone say that Benjamin Franklin originally said it, but I'm not sure. I also heard from the same person that the whole quote is actually "Everyone has a right to their own opinion, if they can logically defend it." But I cannot seem to find the original quote anywhere, maybe someone here knows.

I think this is a paraphrase (a different way of saying) a concept regarding freedom of speech. Here are two quotes expressing the idea of universal freedom of speech and opinion:
1) Public opinion in this country is everything.
-- Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)
2)Error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it.
-- Thomas Jefferson (1743-1846)
