My second question: how about masturbation? it's a process right? first comes the stimulation, then the orgasm, and the ejaculation..at what point does it become a sin? is it already a sin when you're just stimulating it, or you need to ejaculate for the masturbation to be a sin? I hope the first ones who answered my question would also answer this..but anyone is free to answer if you have the knowledge..

Alina R.. what an abusive person.. God is merciful..and we should thank Him because He forgives us for no matter what sin we commit..but what you've said is a very intentional sin..and which I've thought those shouldn't be forgiven at all..but you're lucky, God is indeed merciful..

The sin of masturbation, known as Onanism in the Catholic tradition, is drawn from the Biblical story of Onan. This man withdrew during coitus with the wife of his dead brother, violating a particular command to impregnant the woman out of a desire to not give her a child.

Now, this has been interpreted variously as a command against "spilling the seed"; that semen is somehow a precious substance and it's casual disposal is somehow unacceptable to God.

Today, this seems a tad silly in light of a more advanced knowledge of human biology, so the sin of masturbation has become one of self centered lust. Little masturbation goes without some form of pornography or fantasy, both of which leading Biblical teachers have condemed as violating the Biblical commands to have a clean mind, and to not commit adultry of the mind.

To directly answer your question, it's not possible to say when it's physically a sin. Here, it's a matter of intent. Masturbation is a sin in the brain, not in the hand.

Here's how I feel about this question. Yes, it's one that really doesn't need to be asked as you (or whoever) will most likely do it anyway). Many Christians would probably not even attempt to answer it. Since the Bible says even thinking about adultery, you have committed it in your heart, consider this...who are you thinking about as you are performing the act? Are you thinking of him/her as a conquest or an equal lover? Are you thinking of him/her in a respectful and loving way just as you would if there were a relationship there? Are you married to them? If you are not completely dead to the calling of the Lord, you will know if you are sinning. For some, it takes many years to get over this kind of behavior. But it is possible. Good luck in your search for truth.

Not even the Bible claims masturbation to be a sin. The story of Onan shows God punishing a man for failing to provide a child for his widowed sister-in-law. Masturbation was not the point of that story.

Additionally, it's excellent for prostate health in men, prevents unwanted pregnancy, prevents the transfer of sexually transmitted diseases, combats the overpopulation of the Earth, and relieves stress.

Masturbation is not a sin, physically. The sin is in the thought, sense lust and thinking about someone(other than you spouse) is the same as adultery. If you can masturbate while thinking of just your spouse then it is not sinful.

It is a sin at the thought that leads to stimulation.

A sin is a sin. Same with being gay, its still a sin no matter how you justify it. All sins are the same, and none are lesser if you find a better way to justify it.

I don't know. Neither God nor the Bible has given me a word on this topic. However, let me ask you this: What would be God's purpose in it? To satisfy you...or to glorify Him?
