That's not really fair is it? You asked our opinions, we answered and now you're punishing us because you don't like that answer? How mature is that?

Apparently some of you people get bent out of shape over the stupidest thing. Either that or you can't grasp sarcasm.

I'm not an atheist...but I sure get a lot of thumbs down. Either I think my answers are more clever than they really are, or people severely disagree with me.

Either way...I'm glad I can piss somebody off.

I give thumbs up to Theists - thumbs up to Atheists.

I give thumbs down to Theists - thumbs down to Theists.

Usually, I look at whether or not the person actually answered the question. If someone says, "Where in the Bible does it talk about the story in the Upper Room?" and someone answers:

"Free your life from the Bible. It's childish and stupid."

That's a thumbs down. They didn't answer the question.

If they say:

"It's in the book of Acts. But I think the Bible is crap," I still would give a thumbs up. They did, after all, answer the question correctly.

I see a lot of answers I just believe are completely wrong on both sides. I give thumbs down to those no matter who answered them or what their intentions are. It's not that I think they weren't sincere in their answer, it's just that the information is wrong.

I see other answers I disagree with, but think it was a good answer. I give thumbs up to those.

That's my criteria at least.

EDIT: JP, I gave you a thumbs up because you always get thumbs down. Hope this one helps :)

People in America want religious freedom...but not really.....only as long as it is their religion and any other or the absence of a religion becomes target for sarcasm or just plain vile retort. They cannot accept that this country is a melting pot of many religions and many people, all diverse and all equal. That is the very reason the founding fathers put separation of church and state into the constitution.

I found it amusing when I asked did people think if atheism was a religion or not, the number of thumbs down the no's got. I've never met an atheist who said it was their religion..so all those thumbs down had to come from non-atheists...why would they thumb them down? hm.

We thumb down the answers that we do not like, and we don't like it if you don't agree with us. When I answer some questions and mention God or the fact that I do not think we evolved from some other creature, I often get a lot of thumbs down too, so don't take it so personally.

You'd think they'd pray to God to strike us down, but since that's not going to work, they give us a Thumbs Down. If that's the worst they can do, I can live with it.

You might think it's immature. I think this question is immature.
People thumbs down people.
Atheists aren't innocent of thumbs-downing Christians.
Even I've thumbs-downed Christians. And atheists.
I don't care what they believe, just what they say.

Apparently they are insecure with their beliefs, so they have to ask us questions and then give us a thumbs down to reassure themselves that they are right.
