Most Italian wines are produced in three main Italian regions: Piedmont (Barolo), Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Amarone, Pinot Grigio) and Tuscany (Chianti, Brunello). Also try wines from Puglie, Sicily and Sardinia (Cannonau, Vernaccia).

there isn't an easier answer unfortunately. It depends on the pasta that you are serving. If you ar serving a hearty pasta with red sauce/meat sauce, I would do a nice chianti from italy or a sangiovese maybe from Silverado or Luna in Napa.
Fettucini alfredo though on the other hand would not work with red, a nice chardonnay or pinot grigio would work better and better complement the flavors of the rich cheese sauce.
i make a light tomato and peas sauce and it goes best with Sauvignon Blanc.

As a wine collector, I will tell you that if you are eating something like their steak Gorgonzola you may want a red wine. Red Meat hints best with a smooth red wine. Now if you are eating poultry, the Pinot Grigo is great or maybe a white zinfandel. Same goes with a seafood entree or just a soup and salad. I think that a red wine accents the Minestrone Soup very well.

If you mean "pasta with tomato sauce", get Chianti (It's very dry) or a semi-sweet red like Bully Hill Growers Red.
If you're having a white sauce like Alfredo, or chicken with your pasta, serve a fruity white wine like Chardonnay.
If you're serving shrimp or other seafood with your pasta, get a nice rose' wine.
Sounds delicious!

Red wines go with red pasta sauce. If you are going with an Alfredo or butter sauce go with white.
Personally for a red I like Shiraz. White go with a Chardonnay or a Zinfandel.
