I would. His religous beliefs have nothing to do with his morals and set goals. Not voting for someone because they are athiests is as prejudice as not voting for a woman or black president.Someone else said they wouldn't because he would not be representative of them.If thats true then Barack Obama or Hillary clinton would not be representative of me since one is a woman with womens views in mind and the other is black with african americans best interest on his mind but I'm most likely going to vote for one or the other anyway.
Christians who posted here seem to have a lot of hatered and prejudices against athiests. How ironic for a religion that supposedly teaches. you to love and respect thy neighbor and to do unto others as you would have done to you.

No! I am a believer in Christ. I couldn't vote someone in for President if they didn't believe in God because a good leader would need a belief in God. A good leader needs faith, hope, love, understanding, strength, and forgiveness. I believe if a person has these things, no matter what religion, they have God in their heart, therefore they believe. I wouldn't vote for an atheist because from my understanding, their beliefs are of no God, and evolution, which is a theory and has no facts to it. Due to the issues and problems in this world, a President would need belief in God in order to help the current issues.

I would, because I feel that an atheist would make more rational decisions, as well as be more supportive of science, but my vote would be wasted, because there's just no way an avowed atheist could win in this backward country.
I have no religious belief.

NO, NO, NO! Not any more than I would Vote for a Mormon. This country was Founded on Religion and TRUST in God . Too Many have already tried to "PUSH" GOD Out and Just Look at Our Country! If You do not believe In ALmighty God, Or Confess Jesus as God, What good would you be As OUR President? God Has told us in his Word "If " MY People," who are called By " MY Name," Humble themselves and GET ON THEIR KNEES and PRAY, I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND HEAL YOUR LAND." Can - not BE Said Any Plainer THAN THAT>

Yes. That way theology would be a lot less likely to be passed as laws. I'm Atheist.
But that'll never happen since anybody who's openly Atheist isn't allowed to hold public offices. At least not in my state they aren't.

I don't care what a candidate's religious affiliation is, as long he or she doesn't let it affect their politics. in fact, i think a candidate's religion shouldn't even be known. i know, that in my state, a lot of people voted for bush over kerry simply because he was a "good christian." and now look what's happened.

Although I think faith plays a big part in how one responds in situations, I would vote for an Atheist if I knew he would be a good leader and his ideals coincide mostly with mine.

No. If such a person were to run for office and not respect God, creator, the only way to salvation, then I can't respect or vote for such a person.
