My husband recently passed away ans he was the one who took care of a lot of the financial responsiblities. He never mentioned what company our house is insured under. Is there a way to find out?

I looked throughout the house and couldnt find the papers concerning house insurance. Plus, I know we had the basement of the house insured since we had a small commercial business running. But still I can't seem to find who insured the commercial part of the house either.

A few months before he passed he changed insurance company. But he never even got a chance to tell what company it was since he died abruptly.

What can I do? I already went to the company we dealt with in the past., they are not the one who are currently insuring us.

Please help!

Are there any companies that specialize in locating this type of information?

If you can not find the paper work, try your bank and see if there are any canceled checks or preauthorized payments to an insurance company. There should be some record of payment if you have insurance.

Check with your bank for a canceled check payment to you new insurance company. You should find something there. If not wait for a bill to arrive in the mail. Best Wishes and Our Condolences on the passing of your husband.

Did You find any title papers on the how; if not look there. You can also check your latest year income tax records which if you had a commercial business should list the insurance as an expense. Good Luck.

It's private information - so there's no database or anything you can look this up in. There's no COMPANY that looks this information up for you.

You'll have to go through the cancelled checks, to see which company was paid. It IS possible that you are uninsured!! Keep that in mind. But look at the bright side, you only have a few months of cancelled checks to go through.

No one else can look this up for you. If there's no cancelled check, likely there's no insurance.

Check with your mortgage company, if you have one - they would have the last copy of the last policy they received, on file.
